Finally implemented texture blending on the terrain. The tile textures still need some work but it looks much better up close and gives me a lot more options than the giant single texture I was using for so long

Here, I'm using SSGI with CSM, SSS (screen space shadows), and a custom atmospheric fog for more realism. Adjusting the time of day in a scene like this is like a dream come true 😍. Testing a method to blend objects into the terrain surface. This allows the terrain virtual texture and height to be sampled at pixels' world position and blended in to the object's texture. The terrain normal is computed from the height and also blended with the object normal.

WIP I am currently integrating my "AI video texture" technique with face tracking scripts and active ragdoll physics in standalone VR. For this test video, I only applied the AI video texture to the face, but the body will look much more realistic once I apply the technique to the entire model. I've also figured out how to achieve highly detailed, realistic hair and foliage using the same technique.

Meshes can be made light sources in ray tracing. This is only a test, colors are baked in that Cathedral pane. Thanks for エイブ - Abraham Link for remaking pane mesh and discord use DrNova for the texture edit. I will add texture sampling support for emissive only sources.

Btw I'm working on window blur in niri! Both xray and regular. Xray always "shows through" to the background. This allows it to be very efficient: compute blurred texture only once, then just draw that texture (very cheap). Not a single blur recomputation in this video! #niri
