Sparkjs streaming+LoD is now stable(ish). This flythrough is over 100m splats rendered in browser. The splats are chunked into ~900 pages with a working set of around 16million splats. I think it can handle arbitrary size worlds now. Anyone have a 1 billion splat I can try?

!! I really cannot believe this works. Large splat scene in VR on a Quest 3 using sparkjs. LoD budget is 500k splats. Runs about 30 fps. Full scene is ~6million splats. It's janky (sorry about the controls) But still, just insane this works at all ... (Metaverse is coming!)

Total insanity. This is using an adaptive LOD scheme in sparksjs (not merged yet). The entire scene has 16million splats and this is real time navigation ... 😱😱

AI aided 3D world building is getting ridiculous. This is a large, multi-room gaussian splat (~6million splats). Has streaming, LoD, character support, spatial audio, physics, collisions, VR support, and streaming video. Audio on ... Great place to watch a movie :)

<Splat src={url} /> is now in drei. this is the Kevin Kwok variant. i added data re-use w/ multiple splats, splats can freely move (tied into physics for instance), depth sort is OK, colorspace, support for alphatest and alphahash, and integrated into react-suspense.

Some of the large scene's being generated are really unbelievable. This is a generative 3D splat, not 2D video. The full scene is likely over 50million splats. You can see some stitching inconsistencies from the final v2v pass. Also nice music :)

I've made Gaussian Splat Coloring Book for Vision Pro. Still rough on the edges, but working in splats on AVP is super rewarding, and now I'm thinking about full blown Gaussian Splats editor instead of just a coloring book :D

Working on a tool to generate low poly collision meshes from gaussian splats. It uses marching cubes and quadric error metric (QEM) decimation. Results are pretty good, it can get a usable sub 10Mb collision mesh from a 50Mb splat.

I like big splats and I cannot lie. PlayCanvas's new LOD streaming system for 3D Gaussian Splatting is a big deal. It's a key step towards splatting the world and making it explorable. Check out a live demo below in your browser.

I love Gaussian Splats and Substance Painter, and Photoshop.. So why not have Splat Painter? I started developing a splat painting toolkit that includes procedural texture application, masking, layering, blend modes, relighting with multiple lights, custom texture import, displacements, stencils and more with paint brush and animation features coming soon. Now you can customize your Gaussian Splats in real-time procedurally in live web view 💪

Absolutely massive dive into a enormous splat (Mega Hell by Brittani Natali ). It's remarkable we can create scenes this large in a few days. This is an early peak at sparkjs 2.0 that has higher precision, improved paged streaming, updated Bhatt(acharyya) LoD, and a lot more.

Collisions are finally coming! Automatic splat to conversion is tough given how messy AI generated splats are. So I created a simple editor that does down sampling, opacity filtering and then basic marching cubes and the results are pretty OK! 🥳

i like big splats and i cannot lie. you can now compress, tile and stream city scale 3d gaussian splats -- glTF has an official 3DGS extension now too. this is what the future of google earth looks like. no more broccoli trees. no more melted powerlines. immaculate ground level detail that actually holds up.

During preprocessing, splats are assigned to mesh vertices, and their relative transformations are stored. Once this data is saved, you can instantly use it in your applications without further preprocessing. Gaussian Splatting is pretty wild. Being able to take dense collections of assets and package them into fast, real-time splats opens up a ton of new possibilities for look-dev, previs, and interactive scenes. For this test, I built a pile of 400 skulls - roughly 40+ million polygons (and over 400 8K texture instances) - rendered out a 600 frame dataset on The Render Network with OTOY OctaneRender and then converted the result into a single splat asset. Now it runs in real-time as one compact Gaussian Splat.

What happens if you try to push and squash a Gaussian splat? :) Been playing with adding simplified deformation and a lightweight physics simulation layer to Gaussian splats, running directly in real time on mobile. Instead of simulating every splat, this uses a small CPU lattice to drive the deformation, plus a per-splat transform so they actually stretch and compress properly. No mesh conversion, no retraining. Just layered on top of the renderer. You can push, bend, squash a scan and it holds together surprisingly well... Still early, but I can see the potential in making splats feel more real, from static captures to something more tactile, something you can touch, throw, bounce around… or well just fold and squash on the floor :) #GaussianSplatting #3DGS #Unity
