Apple and Meta are still missing the point when it comes to spatial productivity. Going monitor-free or showing the weather in 3d space isn't enough. There's not enough value in replacing a frictionless setup like a laptop and mouse unless the spatial environment unlocks something radically more powerful: a creative work space so fluid and enabling that you wouldn't want to work any other way. I created this "Spatial AI Workbench" mockup a while ago to explore that exact idea.

Kicking off Season 2 of “Vision Pro App of the Day” with “Little Cities - Diorama” by nDreams. As a kid, I loved playing SimCity, so being able to have your own little simulation in any size, right in your room, was a lot of fun to play around with. You can build worlds, design cities, and create a working economy. This app is a great reminder of just how stunning the AVP’s resolution is and the incredible attention to detail the developers put into this App. 5/5 Visions! 🥽🥽🥽🥽🥽

Spatial videos on Apple Vision Pro are certainly cool, but I’m already taking 3D immersive videos using my iPhone and viewing them in mixed reality on Meta Quest 3 This is one of the most WOW moments I’ve experienced with technology. Recorded memories are in pretty good quality, real size and 6DoF, meaning you can walk around it, get closer. And it’s clear that this is still far from being perfect, but I can feel the presence. It’s truly magical. The app is called “Wist” Private beta waitlist

You might have seen some posts that Highguard runs at a fake in-game resolution, but its not exactly what you think. Steam User Captain_SmellyRat noticed this issue first by pointing out that if you set render scale at 100%,the game would still show 80% of the resolution in DLSS hud UI. So If you're playing at 1080p, the internal resolution would be 864p and If you don't change the default render scale (which seems to be always set to 75%) the final resolution would be 648p. However it turns out that the in-game resolution is changed in value directly from post-processing settings that you set. Post-processing quality settings would change the internal resolution as follows: Low - 80% of in-game resolution Medium - 90% of in-game resolution High - 100% of in-game resolution If you're playing at high settings, you will not notice the game looking blurry, but if you play at medium or low settings, the game will look extremely blurry even though you think you're playing at 1080p or 4k. I find it weird that post-processing quality directly affects the internal game resolution, but if you're playing the game and it looks blurry to you, make sure you set the post processing quality to high. Whenever this was intentional or not to achieve a higher FPS, I don't exactly know. However, I still think the developers should have clarified what each settings affects the game, which in this case here it directly affects the resolution.

For people who don’t get the 2D gaming on virtual monitors in VR use case: HMDs have the potential to be the ultimate monitor for any content. Any aspect ratio, any resolution, any size, it’s all “native” in vr I get to play my game on a massive screen while I have spatial awareness, see my wife, take a sip of coffee, and have depth correct rendering content in my room. If and when I choose to, I can “turn off” my surrounds and go into a virtual environment. It’s MR by default, VR by choice Nobody has really taken this use case all that seriously and optimized the hardware/software around it. Now, it seems like Valve is. Also some context: I’m streaming SW Jedi Fallen Order at 4k 90fps my PC to my Vision Pro, and playing the audio thru my surround sound speakers. It’s the best of ALL worlds

Today, I’m reviewing the Vision Pro version of "Luminar" by Luminar Neo —an incredibly productive, yet downright beautiful app. Honestly, it might just have the best UI/UX I’ve ever seen in photo editing software. All the knobs, settings, and buttons are playful yet thoughtfully designed, making it a joy to interact with the interface. You can immediately tell that a lot of thought went into creating an experience that doesn’t rely on standard sliders, and as an #UI #UX designer myself I really appreciate that! It offers tons of controls, making it a fully-fledged photo editing software, now available in any size, right in your room. You can’t tell me that this isn’t just awesome. The award-winning app is packed with a lot of #AI like smart filters and sky replacement, that work flawlessly. I won’t say more—this one’s an easy 5/5 Visions. Playing #VR games "without" a headset... ... Absolute genius or total abomination? This is called PortalVR and it lets you play any SteamVR game or app on your Windows PC without wearing a headset. Just plug in your #MetaQuest via USB, put it on your desk facing you, and use your controllers while facing your screen. The setup and connection is quite seamless and the team came up with a clever locomotion system to simulate turning the user's head by just tapping the top of the thumbstick. Now the biggest question is: does this make any sense? In my opinion, to play "standard" VR #games, it doesn't. You lose the beauty of being immersed and reaching out to grab objects or looking around can be tricky. On the other hand, I think there might be experiences specifically designed with this interaction in mind like interactive installations or educational experiences that could greatly benefit from a more tactile interface than a mouse and a keyboard
