Speaking of hot reloading, what surprised me in Godot is that script changes are synced to your running game too. And it happens instantly. Which is kinda amazing tbh. Gotta iterate fast 🏎️

Also if you are on mobile dev, if you have the android sdk properly configured and a phone plugged in, an android icon will appear in godot to test directly on device, with the same hot reload features than desktop

This is why all the GDScript moaners will always hear "no, we're not removing GDScript". Because it's meant to allow instant iteration, which is more precious during devving than any performance. When your game is done, take the performance critical script and put them in C++/C#.

That's one of the things Godot devs mean when they say "give GDScript a chance, it's great for iterating fast!" ⚡

Yep. Godot 3 was actually better at it, so hopefully as Godot 4 matures we'll see more improvements. C++ plugin hot reloading is in the works, which will help a lot.

Wait. . . hol up. . . .are you saying that in godot i don't have to save script, stop play mode, wait for the loading bar, make a coffee, and still waiting for the loading bar again?

only been testing godot for a week, don't have anything to say about the performance yet, will have to try it out in an actual project. learning from all over the internet. if you mean where I learned about hot reload, I believe @reduzio mentioned it in one of his latest tweets
