Starship has been to space before. This time, it plans to go around Earth. Flight 14 is targeting September 22 for Starship’s first true orbital insertion, roughly 275 km up and six full laps around the planet. If all goes to plan, it’ll deploy 26 Starlink V3 satellites before deorbiting and coming back down over the Pacific. Up until now, Starship went to space and came back. This time it plans to stay up long enough to circle the world. SpaceX Starlink / Writer: Annette, Grok Imagine Designer: Janné

🇺🇸 SPACEX FIRES UP SUPER HEAVY FOR STARSHIP FLIGHT 9 SpaceX just completed a static fire test of its Super Heavy booster ahead of Starship’s 9th flight. This isn’t its first rodeo—this booster flew on Flight 7 and returned safely. 29 of its 33 Raptor engines are already flight-proven, making this one of the most battle-tested rockets yet. All systems go for the next big push to orbit. Source: SpaceX

🚀 SpaceX Didn’t Just Push the Limits of Rocket Science—It Changed How We Experience Space. During its latest test flight, Starship traveled roughly halfway around the world, deploying 20 next-generation Starlink test satellites before surviving reentry and making its softest controlled splashdown yet in the Indian Ocean. But the real breakthrough wasn’t measured only in distance.

NEWS: SpaceX has released a statement after today's successful 11th Starship test flight. "Every major objective of the flight test was achieved, providing valuable data as we prepare the next generation of Starship and Super Heavy. The flight test began with Super Heavy igniting all 33 Raptor engines and ascending over the Gulf. The successful first-stage ascent was followed by a hot-staging maneuver, with Starship’s upper stage igniting its six Raptor engines to continue its flight to space. Following stage separation, the Super Heavy booster completed its boostback burn to put it on a course to a pre-planned splashdown zone off the coast of Texas using 12 of the 13 planned engines. Under the same angle of attack tested on the previous flight, the booster descended until successfully igniting all 13 planned engines (including one that did not relight during the boostback burn) for the high-thrust portion of the landing burn. The booster successfully executed a unique landing burn planned for use on the next generation booster. Super Heavy hovered above the water before shutting down its engines and splashing down. After completing a full-duration ascent burn, Starship achieved its planned velocity and trajectory. During flight, Starship successfully deployed eight Starlink simulators and executed the third in-space relight of a Raptor engine, demonstrating a critical capability for future deorbit burns. Starship re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere and was able to gather extensive data on the performance of its heatshield as it was intentionally stressed to test the limits of the vehicle’s capabilities. In the final minutes of flight, Starship performed a dynamic banking maneuver to mimic the trajectory that future missions returning to Starbase will fly. Starship then guided itself using its four flaps to the pre-planned splashdown zone in the Indian Ocean, successfully executing a landing flip, landing burn, and soft splashdown. Focus now turns to the next generation of Starship and Super Heavy, with multiple vehicles currently in active build and preparing for tests. This next iteration will be used for the first Starship orbital flights, operational payload missions, propellant transfer, and more as we iterate to a fully and rapidly reusable vehicle with service to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond."

Starship Flight 14 will deploy 26 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites into the constellation for the first time. Each V3 satellite is designed to provide: • 1 Tbps downlink capacity • 160 Gbps uplink capacity • Around 10× more downlink and 22× more uplink capacity than V2 • 2,048 downlink and 2,048 uplink beams • Six high-capacity 400 Gbps space lasers • 1.2 Tbps of RF backhaul capacity, more than 8× V2 • Approximately twice the solar power Together, these 26 satellites will add 26 Tbps of capacity to Starlink, around 10× the capacity added by one Falcon 9 launch of V2 Mini satellites. Future Starship launches will be capable of adding around 20× more capacity per mission than Falcon 9 launches with V2 satellites. Starship and Starlink V3 were built for each other. This combination will help Starlink serve millions more people with faster and more reliable internet worldwide. Flight 14 is targeting September 22, pending regulatory approval.

Ship 41 is on the pad at Starbase. Monday is looking very real. Flight 14 is aiming to do what Starship has been building toward this whole time: reach orbit, stay up for hours and deploy 26 Starlink V3 satellites. Six laps around Earth. Nearly 10 hours in space. Real payload on board. This one feels different. SpaceX Starlink / Writer: Annette, Grok Imagine Designer: Janné

🇨🇳 Power bank caught fire on board a China Airlines Airbus A321 — the plane made an emergency landing. The incident occurred at an altitude of 10 km during a flight from Hangzhou to Seoul. The device caught fire in a passenger's overhead bin, and the entire cabin quickly filled with smoke. The crew requested an emergency landing at Shanghai Pudong, and the flight attendants managed to extinguish the fire before landing.

Russian footage shows the interception of an unusual Ukrainian aerostat equipped with Starlink and carrying an FPV drone, reportedly at an altitude of around 10 km. Such a carrier allows an FPV to be transported deep into the Russian rear before being deployed, giving it a strike reach far beyond what the drone could achieve using its own flight range alone.
