I really don’t get why the government limits or tightened the rules on international students which contributes billions of dollars in the economy while they keep on accepting refugees which doesn’t contribute in the economy at all.

Today we’re announcing more ways to protect international students from fraud and make it easier to study in Canada: ✅Starting December 1, 2023, post-secondary designated learning institutions (DLI) will be required to confirm every applicant’s letter of acceptance through a new verification process before a study permit is issued. ✅In time for the fall 2024 semester, recognized DLIs that provide quality support and services for international students will benefit from enhanced service, including priority processing of study permits for applicants who plan to study at their school. ✅ We’re also assessing criteria for post-graduation work permits and, in the coming months, will begin introducing changes that will benefit Canadian employers across the country and help meet regional and Francophone immigration goals.

Temporary Indian students in Calgary are staging a so-called “hunger strike” after being refused post-graduation work permits. They entered Canada on study permits for programs that were never eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), paid high international tuition, and expected it would lead to staying permanently. Now that those applications have been refused, they’re demanding to remain. When a work permit is refused, maintained status ends. They lose the legal right to work and have a limited period to either restore their status or leave Canada. A temporary permit is exactly that: temporary. Calling it a hunger strike while continuing to eat food doesn’t create a legal right to permanent residency or change Canada’s immigration laws.

An international student on a work permit which is going to expire soon blames Canada for the fact that she's going to have to leave despite the fact that no such guarantee is made to students or temporary workers. I should know because I came to Canada as an international student nearly 30 years ago. She and her friends are now exploring ways of how they can stay on in Canada, including applying for refugee status which will be tied up for years while their case is decided. Our immigration minister Marc Miller ᐅᑭᒫᐃᐧᐅᓃᐸᐄᐧᐤᐃᔨᐣ Mikotsikaa naively believes those whose permits are expiring are going to leave Canada voluntarily which is a joke. He should watch this video. The sense of entitlement of some of these people is astonishing. She doesn't have a legal right to stay on in Canada beyond the date her current permit expires and if she refuses to leave, she should be deported. These people are playing on white guilt, the easiest thing to exploit in Canada where people are generally naive and think everyone is well intentioned.

A student visa is a temporary document to study in Canada. That was always understood. Our universities and colleges were built by Alberta taxpayers, first and foremost for Alberta students. Where there is room for international students, the terms are simple. Earn your education, then return home to build a life with it. Rules are what make a fair system fair and our country needs to return to an immigration process that respects the rules.

A major loophole is being exploited in Texas When Indians come over on a H-1B Visa, it’s not just them They are then able to put in H-4 Visas and bring their kids and spouse Their kids are then enrolled in American schools as residents not international students, this bypasses guardrails at colleges that make sure there aren’t too many international students changing the demographics of the school This is why some schools are completely overrun with foreigners tens of thousands of H-4 visas are issued annually, with India being the top country This is a real and widely used pathway, though it is legal under current US immigration rules H-4 children are treated as residents for enrollment purposes in most states, including Texas. They attend free public schools like any other child living in the district. They are not classified as international F-1 students, so they do not count toward international student caps or pay higher “international” tuition at the K-12 level After high school, they can often qualify for in-state tuition. They apply as domestic students not international We have to change our laws to close this loophole, especially knowing the H-1B Visa program is being abused to drastically

Vision IAS Delhi Students Deserve Clarity. No student should have to prepare for UPSC with fear, confusion and uncertainty. Also, No institute should have to go through such a phase. Students have paid their fees, trusted the institute and planned their preparation around its classes, teachers, test series and study material. They are not asking for too much. They only want to know what is happening and what will happen next. This is not the time for silence. The Director, the management and the senior faculty should come together on one stage and speak directly to the students. They should clearly explain whether classes will continue, which faculty members will remain, how pending courses will be completed and what support will be given to enrolled students. Even if there are problems, students can understand them. What they cannot handle is being left without answers. At this point, assurance matters. A clear and honest interaction can reduce rumours, rebuild confidence and help students focus again on their preparation. Students are already carrying the pressure of one of the toughest examinations in the country. They should not be made to carry the burden of institutional uncertainty as well. They are not asking for promises. They are asking for clarity, continuity and responsibility. I am sure Vision IAS will resolve this.
