Syria: Government forces and allied tribal militias shelled western neighborhoods of Suwayda with mortars and 23mm machine guns on August 31. The strike breaches the ceasefire. The escalation followed an internal armed dispute inside Suwayda city on August 29 between National Guard units and rival local factions. Suwayda, Syria's Druze heartland, remains under partial control of local National Guard.
