I shared a wonderful conversation with The Alex Nowrasteh, Vice President for Economic and Social Policy Studies with the Cato Institute. We approach fertility from many different angles, including: - Why economists need to weigh fertility much more heavily in their calculus of long-term economic health. - How economic gains that come at the cost of people not having children will be given up in the long run. - We have friendly debate on housing and fertility where Alex argues for unrestricted building while I argue that we need to heed the lessons of East Asia, which has built housing that is cheap and abundant, but of a type that is quite unsuitable for families. - How to build in ways that are both pro-growth and pro-family, and the fertility benefits of having geographically dispersed economic growth. - Reasons why countries tend to see birthrates plunge as they get rich and how we might hope to overcome that. - A look at groups that buck the trend like Israelis, the Amish and others and what we can learn from them.

Corbin Carroll led MLB in ideal attack angle with 68.4% in 2025. That's the % of swings with an attack angle between 5 and 20 degrees (optimal for line drives and hard contact). Not to be confused with launch angle, which is the angle the ball takes off the bat. The whole "round ball, round bat" concept makes that tougher to control. Not helpful: • Ms. Good was cordial and showed no animosity or threatening behavior before the encounter. • The agent placed himself in front of a moving vehicle and appears to advance toward it. • The “fucking bitch” remark at the end can be read as a mindset of compelling control/compliance rather than fear of death, which undercuts a self-defense narrative.

Yes, I've been testing Higgsfield AI 🧩 and having access to camera control presets is super fun. The Robo Arm preset is very useful and generates dynamic fast paced movement which on it's own looks very cool! It also retains consistency of the character and environment but what makes this preset even more useful is the fact that every time the Robo Arm moves, a new camera angle is generated. If you capture a still frame from these different angles, you can essentially use those still images as an image to video input to advance narrative with your storytelling. It's like asking ChatGPT 4o to "generate a side profile of this scene". The difference with Robo Arm is that it generates multiple new camera angles at once and the overall consistency seems to be better than what ChatGPT 4o can generate. I think it's very useful for storytelling. You can then upload one of the frames to ChatGPT 4o and tell it to generate a new image in the same style but instruct it to introduce something completely new, like what I did with the soldiers on the boat. So now you'll have the same style and lighting but with new elements as well.

Out on the media this morning to put the case for keeping the two-child benefit cap. Those not on benefits have to take often very difficult financial choices if they want a large family. It is unfair that those on benefits should have the cost of a large family covered by taxpayers. The best way to reduce poverty is to generate well paid jobs - that means getting the benefits bill down so that we can reduce taxes and increase jobs and take home pay.
