The Polar Jet Stream will keep diving south again and again, dragging down round after round of frigid Canadian air. This is the kind of cold we normally see in the heart of January - seeing it this early is highly unusual. Temperatures will run 10, 20, even 30 degrees below normal, and some locations may drop below zero for a prolonged stretch. Wind chills will be even worse.
