TEXAS FLOODS-Here’s a radar loop from the main event. From Thursday afternoon, July 3rd, through Sunday evening, July 6th. A leftover “plume” of tropical moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry surged north into the state, in combination with elevated moisture from the eastern Pacific from Hurricane Flossie. A shortwave trough emerged from the northwest along with some upper spin from the Gulf, and aided the formation of an MCV over central Texas. Starting late Wednesday, a funnel of this tropical moisture began feeding into the Hill Country, and along with the approaching shortwave, fueled the development of the MCV or (mesoscale convective vortex). This “spin” or the MCV, continued to produce widespread tropical downpours and thunderstorms overnight into Friday morning, July 4th. A burst of low-level air and moisture transport, what’s called the LLJ (Low-level jet) also continued to funnel moisture in to this MCV and continued storms overnight. This was where the bulk of the flooding occurred, and filled downstream rivers and tributaries. Each subsequent day brought bursts of convectively-driven showers and storms that would further exacerbate the flooding situation, on top of what already fell. #WATCH | Delhi: On Delhi cloud seeding, Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur, says, "We tried it yesterday but unfortunately could not get rains because the moisture content in clouds was quite low at 15%. We then thought that we'd do it today with the expectation that we'd get better moisture content today, but this morning we learned that today's moisture content is even lower. Therefore, we decided to postpone it and wait until we get a cloud with reasonable moisture content. Whenever we get that, we'll do the seeding. At least 40-50% moisture content is required. I don't think the prediction is for tomorrow, but maybe in 3-4 days..."

Woah! Amazing feels here in #Florida. We woke up to 50s and 60s from Tampa-Orlando north. What’s driving this crazy nice weather pattern?? It’s a huge block, which may send another shot our way! Here’s why… a big heat dome over Canada and the Great Lakes is contorting the pattern, acting as a road block, forcing weather around it. The end result is #cool dry Canadian air pouring down the US East Coast into Florida. This crisp low humidity weather will last through Sunday, and if the next shot indeed comes down next week, then it will be mainly rain free through Midweek. But don’t get used to it, deep tropical moisture sitting in the Gulf is ready to pounce as soon as the dry air eases. Significant rainfall for Southern California starting as early as Wednesday night through Saturday, but this is a progressive storm pattern that’s going to continue to escalate due to the warming of the Pacific so this is just the start of what’s to come. We need to be prepared for potential mudslides in recent major burn areas such as Easton and Pacific Palisades burn scar zones. Next Thursday through next Sunday now the potential for the system to have more major impacts such as road flooding, high wind potential, and possibly even isolated power outages with some strong to severe thunderstorms that could be embedded with the system. The two moisture sources originate from the Marshall Islands, and the Hawaiian Islands are trending now. Before this big weather shift all comes about we are going to be seeing again 92 to 95° temperatures a light Santa Ana wind event and offshore flow majority of Santa Barbara to San Diego counties, this upcoming Saturday to Monday. We are going to get pretty toasty across our region and then the rains will come almost similar to November 1997 all over again. #CAwx
