The Bitcoin source code is stored in the Arctic. In 2020, Bitcoin’s source-code repository was included in GitHub’s Arctic Code Vault project. GitHub took a snapshot of the active public Bitcoin and other important open-source project repositories, recorded 21 terabytes of data on 186 reels of archival film, and... transported the collection to Svalbard, Norway. It was deposited on July 8 in a decommissioned coal mine beneath the permafrost. The storage project was designed with a thousand-year preservation goal. I always mentioned the fact that if the global network went down for some unforeseen reason, hundreds of years could pass before it powered back up, and things would still pick up right where they left off. The ledger would still be the ledger. Your coins would still be your coins.
