It’s so fascinating to me that btc is in Arctic. I personally hold a good amount of btc and each and every day I’m glad I continue to hold and buy!

I always mentioned the fact that if the global network went down for some unforeseen reason, hundreds of years could pass before it powered back up, and things would still pick up right where they left off. The ledger would still be the ledger. Your coins would still be your coins.

Can someone explain this to me? Storing some arbitrary state of code? Bitcoin, okay, I get it. But what do we need 1000 year old python, .net, and docker code for? We don’t need 5 year old one.

Worth noting: thousands of full nodes already preserve every version of the code globally. The Arctic vault is a nice story, but Bitcoin's real backup is its network.
Cold storage for the code, warm storage for the idea. Hard to kill an open network.
