Every once in a while, the combination of wind and tidal flow will create large crashing waves in the mouth of the inlet. The ospreys have to time their dives between the breakers, and if they manage to latch onto a large fish, they don’t always get out of the water immediately. Instead, they float on the surface of the water with their wings outstretched like outriggers on a boat, waiting for the perfect time to gain lift. For this bird, the timing was all wrong because a large rolling wall of white water was quickly approaching from behind. Ospreys don’t get rolled in waves very often, but when they are hunting in the Atlantic Ocean, it does happen.

Finding neutral on a bike can be tricky because motorcycle transmissions use a sequential constant-mesh system where gears are always spinning together. You can do some pretty fun realtime VFX once the depth output is just another (Type)GPU buffer :D I basically yoinked my old 3D fire sim (that is actually a fluid sim but do not tell anyone) and plugged it into the depth pipeline together with hand tracking Everything here is built from scratch in TypeGPU, so inference, simulation and rendering can share GPU resources and interleave passes directly. That’s 2 NN inferences, a full 3D fluid sim, relighting and rendering in one command encoder, still under 16 ms with no CPU sync in between
