Four years ago today, we pitched Chowdeck at YC Demo Day. It’s crazy how quickly time flies and even crazier how much can change in four years. For one, my hair is longer 😂 😂😂 But more importantly, Chowdeck has grown far beyond what any of us could have imagined back then. In the video, I was so proud of delivering 800 orders in a day. Today, we do that every 15 minutes. And yet, it’s still Day One 🚀

Donald Trump, in response to the question if there is a deal that is acceptable that only covers nuclear: That would be acceptable. But the one thing and right up front, no nuclear weapons. If you could have made the deal two years ago, we would have made the deal. But they weren't willing to do that. Now they are willing to do it. So they're willing to do much more than they would have a year and a half ago or even a year ago when we've heard. Don't forget we've only been doing this for exactly one year. And we've started this with them a few months after the beginning of this term. This term has been amazing. But the results could very, they could surprise people. If they would have offered this deal originally when we first started, it would have been accepted immediately. We'll see what happens now.

💬: what have you learned about each other that only time together could teach you? 🥟: i think we've learned so many things about each other that we even know the things that we didn't need to know. if count from our trainee days, we've been together for almost 10 years or even more than 10 years. what have we learned? i've learned a lot from seeing how passionate everyone is about what they do, how dedicated they are to everything and we're a team that really loves what we do and i think i've learned a lot from that. in the future, we'll continue learning from one another, working even harder and discovering new things about each other. i think that's how it will be! 🦊: as the maknae, i'd say that even the members are one, two, three and four years older than the maknae, our ideas aren't that different. i think we're all on a pretty similar level!

My dearest brother, oseni rufai, came to visit. Rufai is, without a doubt, one of my favorite people on this planet and one of my best friends. Years ago, during some of my lowest moments, he stood with me in the trenches, speaking life and hope into me when I needed it most—without judgment. To this day, he CONSISTENTLY checks in and celebrates all of my wins. The very few times we’ve ever disagreed or felt a certain way, we’ve been honest with each other, and the issue would disappear, forgotten as quickly as it came. That honesty, mutual respect, and understanding have made our friendship effortless through the years. Just as I wrote in a birthday tribute to him over five years ago, some people used to jokingly refer to me as “Rufai’s mother”—not because of age 👀 but because of the dynamic of our friendship. Little did they know, Rufai has been more like a father to me! 😂😫 He is truly one of one. An eternal friend. ❤️ One day, I will tell the full story.

I guess we're allowed to talk about it now... Astra has absolutely blown my mind. I did get early access to test it out and it's definitely felt like the biggest leap we've seen in a long time! I asked it to make me a humanoid wolf in Blender, it used computer use, took control of Blender, and made the wolf in 8-minutes. I asked it to create a clone of Mega Bonk. It made one of the most visually appealing versions of the game I've gotten so far and, using Ultra mode, it did it in 12-minutes. I asked it to make a website that would impress me and it built a world simulator where I could terraform the earth, change the weather, plant more trees, etc. and it would show how the changes would likely effect the population. It built that in 17-minutes. I don't know if the speed is because less people were using it than other models but I've been genuinely impressed by what it's created. I've done a few other tests... Will share more on my news video that's coming out tomorrow.

Wow. I just put a formula together for the video generator agent and it just output this, really interesting: Running a few more tests before I implement properly. Remember, it's creating the entire logline, prompts, clips - everything by itself AND editing the clips together. Currently in the Replit app, I tweaked the app so that you could see each individual scene in addition to the final video and have the prompt for the scene. However, that makes waiting like 15-20 minutes as opposed to like, 6-8 minutes. Thoughts? Do you all want to wait longer for your prompts at first to try this thing out? I'm getting ready to push soon, there's just a few bugs.

Alan has a one-page personal organization system he calls the brain, which he has used for 25 years and has been one of the most resonant things I have seen for how to think about managing time, priorities, and creative thinking in one place: As an investor, the scarcest thing you have is time. And one of the most important skill sets is your dynamic prioritization of that time on the highest impact things. So we always talk about return on time. All my important priorities—people, businesses, investment themes—it changes over time based on what's needed from me. But I try to get my brain on paper and it allows me to dynamically prioritize where the highest return on my time is. That's number one. The second thing it allows me to do is that I never have loose ends. I follow up on everything. I'm constantly looking at it, updating it, and I do it all by hand. There's never a time I actually go through that process where I don't connect two or three dots or think of a new idea. That's my left brain, and then I have my right brain sheet, which is the second page, which is all my creative ideas. And sometimes there are ideas that I had like from 10 years ago, from 15 years ago that surface today and become relevant today. We have everyone in our firm do our personal business plan. From that personal business plan, I get a lot of clarity on what are my top five priorities of how I can drive the most impact to our firm, our investors. So I'll have my five strategic priorities. I also have my health there. It’s also the personal side so I keep balance. It is an intention system, but it's also a return on time system and an ability to dynamically prioritize.”

I was listening to a sermon recently from one of my favorite teachers, Tim Keller, who sadly passed from this earth earlier this year. He was talking about the power and meaning of the words “Peace On Earth”. I was deeply encouraged and challenged to consider the significance of those words, particularly what they meant when announced by the angels 2000 years ago, and what they mean to us in 2023. As I was reflecting on all of that in light of what’s happening in my life personally with family and friends as well as in the world as a whole, I started thinking about a song I wrote a few years ago with my friend Tom Douglas called “A Desperate Benediction (Peace on Earth)” and suddenly found myself rewriting some of the words of this song, specifically related to right now...Christmas 2023. I’m not even sure as a songwriter what the rules are on this kind of a thing, but I felt strongly that I wanted to share it with you…So here you go. Peace on Earth, Christmas 2023.
