The craziest thing about The iPhone 17 Pro variable aperture camera is that Apple isn't the first to do this but Samsung, which released a dual aperture smartphone back when Galaxy S9 launched. Although dual aperture is not as advanced as variable aperture, the premise is the same. A... smaller aperture allows for better photos during bright light while a bigger aperture allows for better pictures in low-light. For some odd reason, Samsung decided to skip on this feature entirely after the launch of galaxy S10 and every Galaxy smartphone released after it had a fixed aperture. Chances are that Samsung will follow Apple again and re-introduce this feature with their next Galaxy smartphones but I always found it quite odd that they got rid of it on the first place.show more

There is big philosophy difference. Samsung pushes unbaked features to look good on spec sheet while Apple do when they feel confident that they Cooked!!

shamesung will most certainly bring the feature back now Apple has.

I've observed this cycle between Android and Apple countless times before. Android launched Android Beam, later discontinued it, and then Apple introduced a similar feature. Now, Android is also reintroducing that technology. The same pattern holds true in this situation as well.

The Samsung S10 Series was the last Galaxy Phone to have "Dual Aperture". No Samsung phone after brought that feature back let alone the latest $1299+ Samsung Ultra Models

a variable aperture on a phone isn't very useful imo. You either reduce the amount of light the sensor can gather, which on a sensor that already struggles to gather light. Or you introduce diffraction, which makes the already soft lens even softer when stopping down too much.

And it worked like absolute dog shit on the Samsung. Come on now

Just like they got rid of Bluetooth connection to the s pen on s25 On the s24, you could control the camera with s pen On s25, the pen only works for drawing and tapping screen

Nokia already had variable aperture in the N86 back in 2009

Samsung abandono la apertura variable desde el s10, además de que cada año quita una función a sus teléfonos

There is an Apple wolf in Samsung Department!

Indeed, this Samsung feature was impressive enough to vanish after a single generation 🤣

Donde estan todos los boludos Apple sheep a decir que están copiando?

Samsung S27 Will Destroy IPHONE!

Samsung was shit, apple is good

The Samsung X account literally had a chance to make a reasonable argument

Android innovation : 🙂🙂🙂 Apple innovation : 😍😍😍

Apple is dying from within

2026 samsung?

🤣🤣🤣🤣

idiot , you can do this in expert raw mode in s models

Check dm please

It's because apple didn't have it and millions of people bought it so Samsung saw that nobody cared. Now that apple finally caught up, Samsung will do it or it will be just another thing that apple fanboys will dock Samsung for.
