XPENG IRON combines a highly human-like design with 76 body DOF and 21 DOF per hand, enabling advanced dexterity and mobility. It runs XPENG’s Physical AI foundation model locally on three Turing chips, delivering up to 2,250 TOPS for low-latency, autonomous task execution without remote control.

从产线自己走下来的那一刻开始,XPENG IRON 跟 Figure / 1X / Apptronik 不在一个赛道了 —— 那些还停在 demo 视频里。门店接待、导览、搬东西这种活接下来才是真战场。

I’d watch the 1,000/month number. Walking off a line is the easy bit. Getting them to do useful work in stores after month one is where it gets awkward.

The real test is yet to come. Humanoids first appeared at trade show booths to greet visitors several years ago. But the question is whether they're ready for everyday life. After all, greeting guests and performing a few simple tasks can only be a first step. Everyday life isn't made up of dozens, but of hundreds and thousands of small situations that are always slightly different. This is where we see just how good AI really is. Ultimately, a humanoid is really good if it can do “everything”—just as you can ask an AI any question. I’m very curious to see how IRON performs in everyday life and how it will compare to Optimus.

QUOTE:"Greeting customers. Guiding people around. Moving things (...) IRON will start (...) with the jobs that are dangerous, repetitive, or simply no one wants to do...". Greeting customers in shops in China is dangerous work nobody wants to do?

A 4S store is a better test than a stage. The useful follow-up is how many customer-facing tasks it completes before a human has to step in.
