WRONG. Teams do this when they’re down and trying to save time because the clock doesn’t start until someone touches it so they’ll roll it up the court and the ball has to pass half court in under 10 seconds or it’s a turnover

Meh. Ball must hit the rim at 24 seconds, but cross half court in 10. Turnover.

It's not cheating the clock, it's exposing teams for being lazy and not wanting to play defense. You see a team try this? You run up the court and defend it immediately, forcing them to pick the ball up. You wanna be lazy, you're gonna get "cheated".

used to be that a ball wasn’t inbounds until player touches it. Hence the 5 second inbound rule would apply. Then they changed it to allow this. Needs to go back. If you throw the ball down court and it bounces in play untouched and goes out of bounds where do you inbound?

You’re not saving anything doing this. So annoying. Simple fix. Put a man on the ball.

Easy to fix. They have 5 seconds to inbound the ball. Blow the whistle.

This is the complete opposite of what’s true. Must be rage bait. Clock doesn’t start. It’s what you do when you’re down.

That’s true pretty much at all levels… if time is stopped (time out, made free throw, foul) before the throw in, the clock won’t start till the ball is touched..

It’s not cheating if you’re playing within the rules. The shot clock doesn’t start until a player touches the inbounds pass. If you like clock management and football check out my book. (Great dad’s day gift. Wink emoji.)

You have 10 seconds to go over half court

Also that should have been a five second back court whistle

It’s a violation at 5 seconds. Just another example of how bad NBA refs have become. I’ll never watch NBA again

OMG...the NBA is not the ONLY basketball league in the world. This is NOT an NBA rule, it's a basketball game all around the world (this "trick" was already used by teams in Europe in the 80s).

This is not an NBA rule. This is a basketball rule. You are so arrogant. The true descendants of the Britons and Saxons.
