The redesigned Tesla Semi now uses the updated MCS (Megawatt Charging System) charge port. This 1.2 MW (1,200 kW) port is used across North America, and also Europe for class 6-8 electric commercial vehicles. MCS is essentially the heavy-duty truck equivalent of NACS.

🚛⚡ Just got back from the Tesla Megacharger in Ontario, CA — the first one open to external Semi fleet customers! Walked the whole site, got up close with those massive liquid-cooled cables and heavy-duty stalls, and explored the entire setup. The engineering is seriously impressive. Charging specs here: This site delivers up to 750 kW per stall (full Megachargers can hit 1.2 MW). At peak power, the Tesla Semi can recover up to ~60% of its ~500-mile range — that’s roughly 300+ miles of range in about 30 minutes during a driver break. Even at 750 kW it’s a huge leap for trucking efficiency. What still shocked me: dozens of traditional diesel semis just sitting there idling for who knows how long, engines running, burning fuel and spewing exhaust right next to the electric future. The Tesla Semi is going to be a total game changer — zero emissions, drastically lower operating costs (no diesel, minimal maintenance), instant torque, and megawatt-class charging that keeps trucks moving with almost no downtime. Both the Tesla Cybercab’s wireless charging system and the Porsche Cayenne’s $8,000 wireless charging system use Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology for precise alignment. The difference is Tesla was granted an FCC waiver to use UWB on fixed outdoor charging pads so Cybercab can autonomously self-align and charge unattended in robotaxi fleets. A rule was in place that normally restricts UWB to handheld devices only and bans fixed outdoor antennas/infrastructure. Tesla is good to go now, which is huge! Porsches system doesn’t need a waiver since it was designed for private use at home. In Tesla’s video it shows Cybercab charging at 25 kW. Porsche’s at-home system maxes out at 11 kW and has a 90% charging efficiency.

This comes after the Port Ministry declared the closure of #Mogadishu port as Turkish ships delivered military hardware. If confirmed, this is the first set of heavy military gear Somalia has received since pre-1991. Ankara also delivered F-16 fighters last month. Thank you to our #Türkiye brothers. 👍

Full walk-around of two new Tesla Semis in Las Vegas today ahead of the ACT expo. Gives us a good look at the cameras and some washers, charge port, closer look at the rear, etc. Tesla says these things are autonomy ready. Volume production of this redesigned Semi started last week in Nevada. (Thx for sending me the video David Moss. He’ll be sharing a ride along video later today).

NEWS: Florida is building a highway that charges electric cars as they drive. The Florida expressway will include a 0.75-mile electrified section and is expected to be completed by 2029. According to ENRX, the project’s technology partner, the electrified roadway can deliver charging speeds of up to 200 kW. The primary target for this type of charging infrastructure is commercial fleets, including delivery vans and long-haul trucks.

I visited the site, and the city’s SUP amendment says the facility may be used for charging, cleaning, repair, and maintenance of Tesla-owned autonomous vehicles. The documents identify the project as a service and delivery center, but the approved use also makes it a potential support location for Tesla’s Robotaxi fleet in DFW.
