We are failing Palestinians in Gaza. We are not doing enough. We are not supporting enough. Help here: The Sameer Project increased water by 30,000 liters per day this week reaching 215,000 liters. The camps we went back to after two weeks of absence were furious as they struggled massively without water. 215,000 liters is low. We can do more. The Sameer Project has the ability to scale up to half a million liters overnight. All we need is funding. The Sameer Project used to provide 3,000 rice meals a day, which was reduced to a 1,000 then 500 and now we only do 200 meals a day. This is due to lack of funding and reduction in donations, support: On October 11th, the Sameer Project gave out 200 meals of rice to Al Noor Camp in Qarara, Khan Younis. The cost with 11% commission was $1,151. Each meal feeds 2-3 people so this distribution fed around 500-600 people. The Sameer Project has the capacity to distributed thousands of meals or do multiple community kitchens per day. An emotional day for The Sameer Project team when we opened the desalination plant on September 10th! Support our work: After long hours of tears and sweat, we managed to open a desalination plant that provides a new source of clean water in Gaza. With God’s grace and your material support, we were able to do it. This desalination plant will help us save costs on providing water and we will also provide our partner organizations with free water to distribute. Working in community is a key pillar of The Sameer Project. So this is not our success, this is the success of mutual aid groups in Gaza. A famous chicken sandwich in Gaza named “Tailandi” is something we regularly make in The Sameer Project kitchen. On February 7th, Translating Falasteen (@translatingpa ) x The Sameer Project team distributed 675 of those sandwiches to Falasteen Shelter Center, Rimal. Most aid groups don’t go to these areas due to the high risk but we at The Sameer Project did! Support our work now: The military occupation took over more than 56% of the Gaza Strip cramming around two million people in a small piece of land. So people live in less than 180 kilometers / 70 miles. That’s why ensuring that aid reaches the North is critical to make sure the military occupation doesn’t take more land and to allow people to have space to live in. On July 28th, The Sameer Project team gave out 469 meals of chicken and rice to Tareeqat Haya Camp in Jabalia. Total cost with 11% commission was $1,200. The Sameer Project provided food and water DAILY to the North, including Jabalia and Beit Lahia. But that had to stop due to lack of funds. Monthly giving will allow our kitchen to make food everyday at around 50% less than the cost of other community kitchens.
