I just got a new PC... Damn you Gabe 😡

“Valve lets you 3d print your own” were they gonna stop you or something? 😭

they can’t “let” you 3d print your own, you can 3d print whatever you want

My faceplate will look like this:

Yep, Valve also already confirmed that they'll release CAT files for the Steam machine like they did for Steam deck so you can 3D print whatever you want. Be Valve, in a world of Sony, who won't let customize the side panels unless its them selling it.

Please be $500 or less and it’s a done deal

I appreciate Valve leaning into user customization with the swappable magnetic plate, especially by enabling 3D printing. That level of modularity and community involvement is exactly what makes PC gaming so engaging and fun to tinker with.

Wait until you see the Companion Cube.

Why are companies waiting to announce the price now? Give me all the information at once, damn.

Nintendo and Sony right now.

Imagine a plate that is a 4:3 monitor screen for retrogaming

Ok a tiny CRT style front plate would be so peak. I actually might get this.

light bars... that give you information... I've seen this one before

PC builders:

That magnetic front plate is such a neat feature, honestly... I always thought the RGB strip was just for looks, but showing download progress is actually super smart. Did Valve ever release the 3D print files for the magnetic plate?

“Valve even LETS you 3D print your own” as if it wasn’t going to happen. Bump the GPU a bit, make 2TB base with 4TB option and make faceplates that can have different details/decals on them. Like the test bench one.

I have an idea ... what if you put a screen on it? Ultimate emulation box

I want a faceplate of Chainsaw Man.

Hardware design and modularity has been overlooked for quite a while now, glad that’s changing.

Very interesting product. I’m excited to see how it will evolve and all the use cases it will potentially have

How i be looking at the steam machine as a playstation player since birth

hmm, not sure about this hype for the new Steam Machine... The original failed pretty hard, only selling less than half a million units before Valve removed it from their store in 2018. Is the Steam Deck's success really enough to make a whole new, expensive mini-PC console work this time?

The things one can achieve when not limited by stuff like Microsoft Windows: A working download progress bar outside of Steam Blessed be the GabeCube 🙏

I still want a screen that acts like a monitor as the front plate.

I'm sorry for being negative but I just don't care about this kind of stuff. I know this is cliche but I just can't get past the 8 GB vram. How will that be enough in a couple years? It already isn't arguably

£400 would sell it, but I am hearing it could be double that at the £800 price, that's PS5 Pro level, and this machine can't touch that.

This is seeming more and more like a gimmick console rather then something meant to be competitive. I'm 8GB of VRAM is insulting.

Valve is such a W company

I already have a gaming pc so it doesn't make sense for me to buy it. But it seems like a cool buy for someone who doesn't
