NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang: Elon Musk is in a phenomenal position to lead the future of AI, autonomous vehicles, and humanoid robotics. “Collecting world data is very expensive, and Elon has a great advantage because, number one, his AI factory for his cars is fantastic, has a lot of NVIDIA gear in it, and he has a very large fleet of cars on the road that allows him to collect a lot of data. So I think he has just a phenomenal position, and he's been working on this for a long time, and so he's going to be in a great position to take advantage of it. I know Elon's attitude towards AI, and he's very optimistic about its future, and obviously he's working on some of the most important AI areas. xAI is working on foundation, cognitive intelligence AI. Jack Dorsey’s advice to startup founders: edit the team and really focus on analytics Jack shares that one of his biggest mistakes at Twitter was not editing the team: “I think for all startups it’s really easy to consider any hire as [part of the team for] the length of the entire company… [But] I think leaders of companies have to consider themselves editors, and you have to edit the team. You constantly have to make sure that you have the best people in, and if there’s any negative attribute within the team, you have to part ways.” Jack’s other piece of advice for entrepreneurs or anyone starting a project is to really focus on analytics: “Really focus on how people are using the system… You need to have an understanding of the momentum of what you’re doing and where you’re going. Drew Houston: “No one is born a CEO” Dropbox founder Drew Houston reflects on feeling insecure in the CEO role when he first started the company: “What I didn’t know was if I should be CEO. The more I learned about business, the more I realized I didn’t know. I was concerned — maybe I should find a more business-minded co-founder and be the CTO.” Drew recalls asking the CEO of another startup for advice at the time: “He told me to give it a shot — it doesn’t have to be permanent. If you like it, keep going. If you don’t, you don’t have to be CEO. He was very practical, but I think it’s totally rational to have imposter syndrome — especially if you’re in your early 20s — and recognizing that there’s a whole world of stuff you need to know beyond the technology and product. I wasn’t fully aware then that all of that is learnable.” He continues: “No one is born a CEO. Everyone is a first-time CEO at some point. Most of tech company founders that are in the Hall of Fame and that we all look at started as technologists and learned the business side on the job. There’s very few examples of going the other way. He dismantled the entire framing: “There’s no such thing as a side anymore. It’s ridiculous because it goes left and right, then extreme left and extreme right, then they come round and meet. It’s extremism that’s the problem and Twitter amplifies that.” “If you’re mildly conservative on Twitter, you’re Hitler. If you’re mildly left-wing, you’re Trotsky, and if you’re a centrist, they both hate you and you’re a coward. There’s no nuance, there’s no argument.” “I think that extremism is threatening everything. People are liars. They pretend it’s because of what you’re saying, but really they just don’t want to hear it because you’re not on the right side.” “There’s so much hypocrisy and lies. Yeah, maybe the format was a set back in the past, but at the same time there’s a lot of positives to it as well. And one of the things that a lot of players kept mentioning is you don’t have a wave weather difference, where you can simply get unlucky and you’re out of contention for that tournament. It’s part of the game, I get it, but it’s something you don’t have to deal with anymore. So that part is a very nice aspect. The team is what really made it for me. Being able to be part of a team, represent a team, play for my teammates, with my teammates and against my teammates, is something that to me that has always been very, very special. When you get a victory to share, it’s always better to have a team to share it with. So it’s what was the most attractive part and when we started discussions it gets to a point where even though I’m ambitious, I’m not greedy. So there’s a give and take and the format is something that I can easily overlook, and I’m pretty sure I can learn to enjoy it, I’ll just have to get used to it, but I’m pretty sure I’ll learn to enjoy it. To be honest, the more I started thinking about it, the more I started thinking about my college days that were 3 day tournaments, 54 holes, and everybody warmed up together for the most part.
