The Emergency Response Team of the Uganda Red Cross Society responded to a road traffic accident that occurred on 18 July 2026 at 11:30 PM in Opiro. Road traffic accident involved a Kakise bus traveling from Soroti to Kampala. The driver reportedly lost control after knocking a boda boda cyclist, causing the bus to overturn. 16 casualities were recorded and supported by Uganda Red Cross Society, Ministry of Health- Uganda, & Uganda Police Force All casualties were evacuated to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital (Soroti RRH) for further medical management. #EMS Government of Uganda

A unique and peaceful protest is being carried out through a hunger strike at Gautam Nagar, Delhi, where Foreign Medical Graduates are raising their concerns and seeking their rightful consideration. Hunger strike is on but students are still studying at protest site. The students are demanding one-time compensation marks in view of the various difficulties and irregularities faced during the recent examination. As an association, we are committed to constructive mediation in the larger interest of the Government, healthcare system, and affected medical students. We humbly request Hon’ble Shri J. P. Nadda Ji and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to kindly grant an urgent appointment so that our delegation can meet the concerned officials and present the students’ concerns. I was deeply moved by this speech, given by President Dr Mohammad Usman Suleiman, Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors NARD. As a Consultant, I acknowledge that, It is easy for Medical Elders to gradually forget the rigours of residency training, as we climb higher and higher. However, we must REMEMBER: Burnt out Doctors are DANGEROUS. Doctor Suleiman is right: “How are you sure Nigerian Doctors, will be at their best, to see Nigerians? It is safer to keep Nigerians away, from these exhausted Doctors” Protecting Doctors, is protecting Patients. Once again, I plead with the Government and our Medical Elders: Help us resolve this crisis asap. Please. If My Brother Is in Trouble, So Am I: A Farewell to Cedric Babu Today, Uganda lost a son. A SMACKOBA_Official old boy. A father. A friend. A sportsman who flew Uganda's flag on tennis courts far and wide - @CedricNdilima . And in his death, we witnessed something more troubling than grief - we saw a country losing its soul. Cedric’s final days were clouded not by illness alone, but by an ugliness on social media that left many of us breathless. What should have been a moment of collective empathy turned into a theatre of Schadenfreude. People didn’t just fail to help - they mocked, they speculated, they judged. Why? Because of who he was born to, or where he stood politically? Let it be said clearly: Cedric Ndilima Babu did not oppress you. He did not steal from you. He simply was. And that should have been enough to grant him peace in his final hours. This is bigger than politics. When a country celebrates - or is indifferent to - the pain of another human being, we are not engaging in resistance. We are becoming the very thing we claim to oppose. In Alur culture, those who celebrate misfortune are called 'Ja-jjok' - witches. And Twitter has become a coven of 'ju-jjogis'. The words of Owek. David F.K. Mpanga ring true: “We shall never see the Uganda we love, until we develop a central nervous system that enables us see the pain in the other.” Let us rebuild that nervous system. Let us feel again. Press Release Magen David Adom prepared to assist IDF medical forces and the Ministry of Health with medical cover of the returning hostages: Ahead of the hostages’ return to Israel, Magen David Adom has deployed EMTs and paramedics in ambulances and mobile intensive care units to provide medical cover for their arrival and the accompanying events. MDA teams have been briefed, are fully prepared, and are assisting wherever needed. MDA Director General Eli Bin: “These are historic and emotional days, as the hostages we have longed to see return for the past two years are finally coming home.
