BC, here’s the next update on the unusual bomb cyclone situation, on Nov 19th. (Scroll for wind forecast) The low pressure system - which is currently roughly 3,200 km SSW of Vancouver island - will race southeast over the pacific during the next 36 hours, while growing rapidly. But the weather system truly becomes problematic as it turns northeast Tuesday morning, where it will completely devour the low in the gulf of Alaska. The storm will explode in intensity, and as pressures plummet near the centre of the storm, winds will explode to numbers more typically seen in tropical cyclones. At this point the storm will be a major bomb cyclone, and will obtain peak intensity by late afternoon or early evening, roughly 400 km west of Vancouver Island. Peak intensify: • Max wind gusts: 185km/h • Min pressure: 944mb Yet the low casts uncertainty over parts of the BC south coast. Northern and western Vancouver island are likely to be impacted with very high southeasterly winds, but southern and eastern sections lay in a zone filled with possibilities. The Polar Jet Stream will keep diving south again and again, dragging down round after round of frigid Canadian air. This is the kind of cold we normally see in the heart of January - seeing it this early is highly unusual. Temperatures will run 10, 20, even 30 degrees below normal, and some locations may drop below zero for a prolonged stretch. Wind chills will be even worse. Bottom line: ⬇️ The cold isn’t going anywhere. Bundle up… it’s going to be a long, frigid stretch. 🥶

The Sabotaging Practice of Over Supply and Sameness in the NFT Space. The current zeitgeist of the NFT space is that the same artists are doing the same kind of work five times a year, with project after project leaving a trail of disappointment and discontent among collectors and all of us watching in disbelief as huge resources are extracted from the space over work that feels like it could be left as an "artist study." I understand that you can do what you want with your money as collectors, but we are killing the whole space with this incestuous practice. No artist is that prolific to be able to do 5 collections of 100+ pieces each every year and actually deliver innovation and some kind of creative evolution. Of course, they can pretend play that the work has something new, but there is no precedent nor proof that that has ever happened in the speed that it happens in the NFT space. Again, people are free to through away their resources on whatever they want but with this way of doing things, we more and more are going to start seeing the consequences. Oh! There are consequences? Yes. Maybe unintended, but there are. Let's see. Let's start with the loss of belief in the NFT space as somewhere where emerging artists can come and find support for their experiments. Why even bother to bring experiments, innovation, and new ways to think of art on the blockchain if the same people have all the collectors hypnotized with their magical flutes? Why even try to come to a space where taking risks and challenging the status quo (the mission of art!!!) is overlooked? This makes the NFT space a social club and not a space for art. I guess it is fine, but IMO it is a recipe for disaster. New collectors stay away because the art will slowly but surely become stale and un-challenging. Why even bother to come and see what is happening here if you can't, as a collector, see new weird and up-and-coming artists? The amount of noise emitted by the same artists doing the same art over and over, drowns out any new voices. Again. A recipe for disaster. The NFT space is becoming a space of disappointment and doubt. We think that collections going to zero one after the other, over and over, is not damaging? I feel we are kidding ourselves. Disappointment piles up, and again, the people who will hurt are the emerging artists, the new blood, the ones who are willing to risk the most and, in return, put fire in this cold space of sameness. I love this space—don't get me wrong—it has changed my life, and I believe it has a ton of potential, but things need to change for it to become a beacon of light in art. But we need to support new voices. We need to support new ideas. The challenge is huge. I hope to contribute all I can to this change. For the people travelling to high-altitude regions please understand how dangerous altitude can be. At Shinkula Pass, around 15,000 feet, a family got stranded for hours with a 6-month-old baby who suddenly became unconscious and unresponsive. The family had no idea it was due to the lack of oxygen and the extreme altitude. Thankfully, someone aware of altitude sickness immediately gave oxygen to the child, and within seconds the baby started crying again. A few seconds of help literally saved a life. People travelling uphill must read and learn about altitude sickness. Low oxygen levels and AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) can be dangerous even for healthy adults imagine the risk for a 6-month-old child. Please avoid taking very small children to such extreme altitudes. Before travelling: • Stay properly hydrated • Consult doctors and carry medicines like Diamox if advised • Always carry an oxygen cylinder, no matter how confident you are • Read about the location and ask locals before heading further uphill This time angels came to save the child. Arrived on another cruise ship last night to deliver my talk this week. I know they look fun but i honestly dread these work gigs. I hate being away from home and my routine. What’s made this worse was I didn’t get ANY sleep last night as my room appears to be next to the thrusters. (Sound on for my videos)I had noise cancelling headfones in but even they couldn’t drown out the noise. Zero sleep, one complaint later…apparently I can’t change rooms…went for lunch….same shaking noise…oh well at least it’s sunny…or B… I’m not looking for a ‘poor me’ sympathy response…but genuinely I feel like I’m over sensitive to noise these days, especially when trying to sleep. Not sure if others who have come through PTSD feel the same??? But it really unhinges me and very quickly. I can’t seem to find a ‘safe’ space on this ship..a moment of calm for my brain. 😔😩

But far and away the best old fashioned I had in NYC was in a tiny tucked away lounge at Grand Central Terminal. This is The Campbell Bar, the restored 1920’s office space of John W Campbell. It took me a few switchbacks to find the entrance but it was totally worth it. I don’t know how that window made it 100 years but it is stunning to behold in person. There will be no let up on taking out Hezbollah infrastructure. People need to remember that none of this was necessary. ALL of this latest round of fighting started when Israel warned Hezbollah and the Lebanese government to NOT fire rockets and missiles at Israel at the behest of the Islamic regime. Had Hezbollah stayed out of it we would not have had to go in and hit them hard. But Hezbollah couldn’t help themselves. Instead of the international community crying about Israel’s retaliation and self defense, they should have been stopping Hezbollah from starting the attacks. But they didn’t.
