Neat but smashes the 1st rule in Engineering (and Decorating) = Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should do something. If this guy trusted his wife, she'd have told him this is totally unnecessary and only shows that you have no idea how to bake. lol

This is the thing. I was shocked how stone-age and backwards are some things in the semiconductor world. I think I know why this is. My theory is, that most semicon companies started in the academic world and when they transitioned to business, they didn't have experience from the "real world" of machine building. They simply didn't had the time to absorb the best practices developed in other fields and just went straight ahead with their own stuff (many of which is brilliant on its own). But no matter how brilliant you are, there are some things only gained by experience + trial&error.

a lot of factors, niche matket, low/no competition, inefficient documentation & communication (very often very minimal outward facing communication), once things work one way it stays like that forever until absolutely necessary to make a change
