Ben Sasse: "One of the weird lines Timothy Keller (1950-2023) used to say is, 'I hate this, but I would never want to go back to the prayer life I had before pancreatic cancer,' which I thought sounded pretty weird. . .But then I felt, what a blessing that I'm saying, 'Lord, come quickly, Maranatha. Thank you for all of the different things that I used to cling to that right now seem really, really trivial because they're actually really trivial.'" Ben Sasse

“Many senators I know would not be able to breathe without that job. It would kill them to leave,” says Scott Pelley. “I don't want what you said to be true. But I fear that that is true. And that is a sign of a much, much deeper problem,” responds former Sen. Ben Sasse.

Trump: Everything was going great. The economy was great. I hate to make this excursion, but we're going to have to do it. And I actually thought the numbers would be worse. I thought that it would go up more than it did.

This was the first sermon I listened to after God saved me. I had no idea what Reformed theology was. I didn’t know 1 Kings from Romans. But IMMEDIATELY after hearing this, everything that was wrong with the sinner’s prayer, decisionism, and all the false ideas about conversion made sense. It was like everything clicked, and I realized how terrible the average church is. It was a truly eye-opening experience for me.

🦊 i finished wrapping up first my solo recently and as words from people around me started influencing me, it really stressed me out and it really started swaying my identity as a person…i was really burnt out for 3 months 🦊 i used to be someone that told people everything when i was going through a hard time like “i’m going through a tough time right now” but i don’t know when it started, but i couldn’t get myself to tell people around me anymore 👤 i wonder why? was it out of consideration for them? 🦊 that could be why…and i also felt like i needed to learn how to overcome things myself 🦊 i didn’t say anything to anyone and was going through it myself…then i thought about namjoon hyung so i went to him and asked him a lot of questions and one of the things he said to me was that he hopes i face the things that make me uncomfortable 🦊 i had conflicts with soobin and we had awkward phases but i wanted to erase all of these things one by one and i feel like there were also a lot of things that i had been misunderstanding, coming to think of it now…so i went up to soobin first and said “hey, let’s go get a drink”

I thought that it would go up more than it did. So I wanted to put out that fire and I said, you know, if I do that, oil prices will go up, the economy will go down a little bit. I thought it would be worse, much worse. Actually, I thought there was a chance it could be much worse. It’s not bad.

In a recent interview with Jim Daly, Ben Sasse answered several challenging questions about how to respond to suffering with both Christian faith and hope: "I don't want to be aggressive with the intellectualist rationalist side, but God tells us in Scripture everything we need to know for faith and life, but He doesn't tell us everything we want to know or everything that we ultimately will know. And He is God. And to whom else would we go? So, I trust Him because He is who He is, and He has been faithful. And so, I won't get every answer this side of eternity... Death is an enemy. Death is wicked. But it's the final enemy. It's our last battle. And after that, there will be no more tears. And so, we will have these answers, and we will know that God used it for His good." Please keep praying for him and his family. (Full link below)

I strongly recommend everyone watch this sobering reflection from Ben Sasse, who faces a terminal cancer diagnosis. This is what it means to "die well." Truly inspiring.

This is what it looks like when death loses its sting. It has no victory over this man. What a blessing that Ben Sasse could share the truth and His light in this interview! God is good.

💬 What changed the most after your debut? 🐹 My mindset changed to be a bit better. 🐹 Before I was thinking, “Wouldn’t I just do this for about 7 years and then stop?” 🐹 But as I kept doing it, it gradually became fun and I became more sincere. 🐹 I’m also very grateful to the fans. And because of that, I thought maybe it would be okay for me to be more sincere. 🐹 I didn’t know I would do this for this long. As I kept doing it, it became fun, so I thought maybe it would be okay to do it seriously, and that feeling actually grew bigger for me over time. 🐹 I just changed to be more positive.

a moment when MY healed you the most? 🌙 during fansign, a MY came up to me and for no particular reason said "i'm always on aeri's side, no matter what" , "i just really like aeri" and when i heard that, i think i really felt a sense of fulfillment about the work that i do. It also made me think a lot about the fact that people like me and of course i'm grateful but i think that's when i truly realized "this is a really happy moment." like that.

Missed me? It's been a minute since I last showed up here. School demanded more of me than I expected, so I took some time to focus on that and a few things behind the scenes. I'm grateful to everyone who checked in, reached out and kept me in their thoughts while I was away, it means more than you know. The good news is that I'm back, refreshed and excited for everything I have planned. There's a lot to share, a lot to teach and a lot to look forward to. Tell me, what have you been up to while I was gone?

Sam Altman reveals he deliberately got himself addicted to TikTok while building Sora, then deleted it because it was too powerful like a drug. "I deleted TikTok because it was just too powerful. Here's a crazy thing that happened. When we were building the Sora app, I made myself get addicted to TikTok because I wanted to learn." "I'd never really used it before... And I loved it. I love TikTok, I really thought it was great." "And then I thought I could control it. I was like, oh, it's actually kind of fun, but I only use it for 10 minutes to wind down before bed and I'm totally in control of it." "And then it was an hour one night, and then some Saturday afternoon I was on the couch for like 3 hours, and I was like, this is really not what I thought the iPhone was supposed to be about." "Now I'm really enjoying it in the moment like a drug, but I can tell it's bad for me. And then I briefly got it back under control, down to like 5 or 10 minutes a night. Then I was just like, enough."

Steve-O reveals the turning point that made him realize he was sex-addicted and how he broke the cycle “When I got to my late 30s, and I was sort of knocking on the door of 40... hooking up with random chicks all the time. It really occurred to me that that is not the path to happiness” “I want to be happy, I want to have a good life and I subscribe to the belief that that means I need to learn to have a healthy relationship so that I can have a life partner” “I resolved to stop hooking up with random chicks on the road. And when I made that promise to myself, I was unable to keep it” “Therein is sort of the definition of addiction. I didn't want to do it and I couldn't stop myself from doing it” “So I went and I got a therapist, and I took it super, super seriously, like just the same way I did with drugs and alcohol”

I was made aware of this June 12 interview with Jim Grant when I saw a @rudyhavenstein post on X yesterday and I must say it means a lot to me. But it’s not about restitution Federal Reserve. Things truly work out for the best and I am very grateful.
