This play happened a couple of years ago in a regional final matchup. Unique to say the least. A single up the middle to center field. One run scores. The center fielder charges and throws home. The second runner is coming in to score. The runner slides, the catcher swipes at his arm, was he safe or out? The issue here is the runner who scored before stays behind home plate and is waving for the next runner to get down. The home plate umpire bumps into him, trips, and falls down and doesn’t see the play. 🤯 You can defer to the field umpire but if he didn’t see it, what call can you make? 🤷‍♂️ Some said the runner should be out because the player who scored first interfered with the home plate umpire. I have never seen a play like this. What do you think? What’s the call? Safe or out?

This runner at second base tried to steal third base. The catcher throws the ball down to the third base girl, she applies the tag and the runner is called out. The coach wanted obstruction on the third base girl. The 3rd base umpire said no obstruction. They ask for the home plate umpire’s help but he sticks with the call from the 3rd base umpire. When you look at it, the runner had a clear path to the bag but ran high and slid into the third base girl when if she had gone in more of a straight line would have made the tag harder. She didn’t try to slide into the base but rather the fielder imho. I say no obstruction and the right call was made. You make the call.

Replay clearly shows the runner is out. The Cubs challenge the call and are confident it is going to be overturned. After replay, the runner is called safe! 🤯 How can the replay booth who has every angle in the book at their disposal (not that you needed more than one) botch this call after the umpire just botched it? Do people lose their jobs over this? Have you seen a more terrible call ever in the replay challenge era?

This happened between the Dodgers and Cardinals several days ago. Mookie Betts singles to right and Andy Pages is on his way home from second base. Phillies right fielder Adolis Garcia comes up firing and throws a strike to home plate. The catcher goes to tag, Pages slides- the call- safe! The Cardinals challenged the call but in looking over the replay you can see that Andy Pages never touched home plate. But, the challenge was to see if the catcher tagged him. Replay rules that the catcher did not tag him. So the call stands- he’s safe! But, he missed home plate! Replay does not have the authority to change the call just because he missed home plate. 🤯 That is a bizarre play!💯 Do you think a call should be overturned if they are looking at a particular part of the play but notice something else like this where the runner didn’t touch home plate?

🚨ABANDONMENT ALERT🚨 It's always the Philadelphia Phillies ... unreal! Luis Arraez is called out for abondonment as he leapt over both the tag at home, and home itself. Instead of trying to get back to touch the base and avoid the catcher, he just heads to the dugout and peaces out. You can see the umpire waits, and once he gets to the dugout, the umpire calls him out. For this, the putout is still to the catcher, and all assists are accounted for, so this was a double for Bohm, and Arraez is out at home 9-4-2. Also, while Arraez started on second, this is still considered a double by rule, as you can have a double despite the runner on second being out at home. Had there been a runner on FIRST, and that runner was thrown out at third, by rule, that can only be a single, so Bohm gets a double here. #RingTheBell #Natitude

This umpire made an unpopular call, but is it the correct call? Man on first and the batter hits a line drive to the shortstop- a line drive. The shortstop drops the ball, tags second and throws to first for the double play. The umpire called an infield fly rule, called the batter out and sent the runner back to first. He said the shortstop intentionally dropped the ball, thus he instituted the infield fly rule. I’ve never seen that before when it is not a pop up. Do you think it was a good call by the umpire or a smart play by the shortstop or both a good call and a smart try by the shortstop? Have you ever seen a line drive called an infield fly rule?

This play right here that happened during this girls softball game doesn’t happen very often. The center fielder throws the ball home to try and get the runner coming around third. The pitcher catches the ball near home, up the line a little bit and the runner bulldozes her over. But the little pitcher holds onto the ball. Runner is out! While the pitcher is down in pain, the following runner who reached third on the play decides she is going to try and score while the pitcher is hurt. But, the pitcher gets up and tags her out too! Two outs at home by the pitcher! I love tough kids! 💯 Do you think that first runner should have been ejected for running the pitcher over? Or do you think it was a clean, hard, play? Ever seen a pitcher make two outs at home during the same sequence of play?

Call on the field is obstruction because her left foot was in the baseline. In my opinion, the obstruction rule is getting way out of hand and too nitpicky. The SS has to get the ball to make a play. Let them play! And let the runners be the D1 athletes that they are and figure it out.

This team was down by 7 runs in the last inning. They made a comeback and scored the winning run by this young man stealing home. 👏 This is why as a catcher, you never throw the ball back to the pitcher from your knees with runners on base. You always stand and take a look at the runner, ESPECIALLY with a runner on third and in this scenario, the game winning run. That’s poor coaching imho. It’s the little fundamentals that are coached in practice that add up to whether a team is prepared or not for the games. Where was the coach telling his catcher to keep an eye on the runner at third?

Interesting ABS situation here. 3-2, runner goes, ball 4 is called and he pulls up into 2B. Catcher challenges… and now you start to wonder what would happen if it’s overturned. Are the announcers right, would this become a double play? Or would the umpires send the runner back to first since the original call influenced the play?
