This multi-use machine is on my top 10 home gym essentials list. It’s a GHD, back extension, leg extension/curl, hip thrust, split squat, reverse hyper, and Nordic curl board all in one. Combine this with a nice squat rack (& associated equipment,) cable machine, and dumbbells and you will quite literally be the king of your neighborhood. There’s a new updated version on the way that’s even quicker to setup, easier to store, and more stable. The one thing it can’t do, which I’d love to see, is for it to also double as an adjustable weight bench.

This is one of the ABSOLUTE BEST row machines for a home gym. It's called the MEGAMASS T-Bar Linear Row. Although you see them in the best commercial gyms the world over, it's perfect for small gyms. At just over the width of a weight plate it can fit anywhere.

The exercise that changed my life: The low back extension. I used to deal with chronic low back pain in my 20s and 30s. Part of my protocol was using the McGill Big 3 (bird dog, McGill Crunch, side planks) to strengthen the supportive muscles around the low back. I then used the back extension to strengthen the hips, glutes, and low back. Just a word of warning: Overextending your low back on this machine will make things worse. Activate from the hips and glutes and don't go past activation. 2-3 sets of 6-10 reps are enough to keep my low back strong, healthy, and pain free.
