This is the app Campfire3D, running on a Meta Quest 3 devkit. You can see that the user is holding a Touch Plus controller (with the Oculus logo on the home button as some devkits have) confirming this. Gives another glimpse at what we can expect from the passthrough quality.

is it just me or does the passthrough still not look great

This video is compressed quite a bit via both the way I downloaded it and Twitter itself. The main things to note are both no major warping or any exposure issues by the window like on Pro :)

🤔the control is below…

@JayHadHope Having used Campfire before at trade shows with the Campfire hardware, this looks pretty great.

The era of talking to ghosts is back

Passthrough looks great, awesome find! My only concern is the lack of hand occlusion. Hopefully this is just a dev choice. Any info on this?

At least with hand tracking, some apps like Cubism use occlusion on the current hardware so likely an implementation thing.

Great and looking forward

Much better than the Pro

Great find.

looks amazing

that's looking pretty good! but that app looks awful... it doesn't look like it's taking advantage of the quest 3 *at all*. no occlusion, tracking still seems a bit wonky.. looks like a quest pro app running on quest 3. what do you think Luna?

IMO At least initially, there's going to be a decent chunk of MR apps that are closer to QPro things simply running on new hardware. Will improve over time though.

aww. i hope meta has some good AR stuff up their sleeves to reveal at Connect, because first impressions matter, and if AR's gonna be as bad as quest pro's just because it's not taking advantage of quest 3 yet, that'll send the wrong message...

@SadlyItsBradley

Passthrough actually looks really good IMHO

the head model reminds me of that Tesla robot joke

The lack of occlusion is concerning. For AR/MR to really be a thing and take off. Occlusion has to a top priority and work. Ofc in this case it could be that the app has not implemented occlusion.

It must be said that the video captures from the Quest Pro's passthrough are not so bad, but the reality is quite different. It will likely be worse in reality with the Quest 3.

Most definitely, although the critical thing here is that it shows there is none of the warping or blown out exposure issues that can be seen even in captures on Pro.
