📽️ Virginia Secedes – Powerful Scene from Gods and Generals (2003) 🔥🔥🔥 A dramatic clip from the Civil War film Gods and Generals, showing the Virginia Secession Convention. After President Lincoln called for troops following the attack on Fort Sumter, the delegates grappled with the painful decision to leave the Union. Stonewall Jackson (Stephen Lang) and Robert E. Lee (Robert Duvall) feature prominently as Virginia chooses to stand with its own people over the federal government. The scene captures the deep division, personal duty, and reluctant patriotism that defined the early days of the American Civil War. #GodsAndGenerals #CivilWar #VirginiaSecession #RobertELee #StonewallJackson #WarMovies #MovieClip #AmericanHistory #HistoricalDrama

After successfully defending the Confederate Capital during the Peninsula Campaign, Robert E. Lee decided to embark on his first northern offensive. On the way to Second Manassas, Stonewall Jackson and Nathaniel Banks squared off at the Battle of Cedar Mountain. 📽️The Anaconda Plan: Jefferson Davis & Robert E. Lee Discuss Union Strategy – North and South A powerful scene from the classic miniseries North and South, showing Confederate President Jefferson Davis and his cabinet (including General Robert E. Lee) reacting to the Union’s Anaconda Plan. Devised by General Winfield Scott, the strategy aimed to strangle the Confederacy through a naval blockade and control of the Mississippi River — slowly squeezing the South’s resources and will to fight. Lee defends Scott’s loyalty to the Union while explaining his own painful choice to side with Virginia. A great look at the early strategic debates of the American Civil War and the personal conflicts of its leaders. #CivilWar #NorthAndSouth #AnacondaPlan #RobertELee #AmericanHistory #MilitaryStrategy #HistoryMiniseries #JeffersonDavis #WarMovies #USHistory

Did you know about Stone Mountain in Georgia? This isn't just any mountain - it's the LARGEST exposed piece of granite on Earth, and its carving dwarfs Mount Rushmore! Featuring Confederate leaders Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson, this massive artwork spans 3 acres wide and 400 feet high. It took over half a century to complete, finally finishing in 1972! Beyond the carving, the mountain itself is a 300-million-year-old granite dome, offering incredible views of Atlanta from its 1,700-foot summit. A true natural and historical marvel!

Under the command of Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson, their much smaller and under equipped Southern forces repeatedly outmaneuvered and defeated the much larger federal armies. Through bold tactics, fast movements, and an instinct for striking at the right place and time, they delivered stunning victories that electrified the South and elevated both men into iconic legendary status and nothing can erase that.

Stone Mountain Park in Georgia is home to the largest Confederate monument in the world — and one of the most controversial Civil War sites in America. Just outside Atlanta, the park attracts millions of visitors each year but remains at the center of a debate over Confederate history, Southern heritage and racism. Originally built as a tribute to the Confederacy, Stone Mountain features a massive carving of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson. It is also the site where the modern Ku Klux Klan was reborn in 1915, adding to its complex legacy. Each year, Confederate Memorial Day brings descendants of Confederate soldiers to the park. Critics argue the monument and gatherings reflect an effort to romanticize the Confederacy and downplay slavery’s role in the Civil War. Join the AJC's Jaide Garcia as she explores the debate over how Stone Mountain’s history should be told — and what the site should represent today. 👉 To learn more about the impact of Stone Mountain, watch the full Southern identity episode of "Curiosities of the South" now on the AJC YouTube channel — and subscribe for more in-depth stories shaping the region: 🎥: AJC | Getty Images | N2SReports / YouTube | WXIA-TV 📸 : Getty Images | Library of Congress | New York Public Library | Virginia Commonwealth University #stonemountain #civilwar #americanhistory #georgia #news

Pete Hegseth out here doing Olympic-level gymnastics to bring back Confederate general names on U.S. military bases. "This is about restoring history and Army morale!" Hegseth says, while twisting himself into knots to pretend it's not about Robert E. Lee & Co. who literally took up arms against America for slavery. Pete defending renaming military bases after Confederate traitors: “We’re not erasing history!” Yeah, you’re just doing backflips to rebrand Robert E. Lee as “some other guy with the same name.” Fort Liberty to Fort Bragg 2.0 : Now with extra copium for morale. Treason cosplay in the Pentagon. Very Embarrassing.

This is f*cking insane!!! Robert F. Kennedy Jr on the dismantling of Confederate monuments. “I have a visceral reaction against the attack on those statues… I know that there were heroes in the Confederacy who didn’t have slaves.” “Clearly Robert E. Lee had extraordinary qualities of leadership.” ——— Such an ignorant & offensive statement. Whether Confederate soldiers had slaves or not, is not the issue. The issue is they were fighting to preserve the right to own humans, brutalize them, and use them for free labor. This sounds like Donald Trump, ‘good people on both sides’

On this day, 160 years ago: April 9, 1865 — After four long years, the American Civil War, the bloodiest conflict in U.S. history, effectively ended when Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Union General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. Over 620,000 lives were lost. Families were divided. But at Appomattox, there was no celebration. No grand speeches. No victory parades. Just a quiet surrender in a parlor. Today, Appomattox is a historic site that provides a glimpse into 1866. Some of the buildings are original, others built after the surrender. My video does not show all the buildings open for touring. You can visit the sites of Grant’s and Lee's Headquarters down the road on either side. It remains a quiet little town and is worth a visit.

📽️Raising an Army: Stonewall Jackson’s Call to Arms in Gods and Generals 🔥 This powerful scene from the 2003 film *Gods and Generals* captures the early days of the American Civil War in Virginia, as Confederate forces begin to mobilize following the state’s secession. The clip shows the transformation of ordinary citizens into soldiers, blending patriotic fervor, religious conviction, and military preparation under the leadership of Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. The scene opens with crowds cheering as supplies are requisitioned for the war effort, including cattle and horses taken from a train bound for Washington. Jackson, portrayed with quiet intensity by Stephen Lang, oversees the preparations while engaging in conversations that reveal both his stern discipline and deep faith. Artillery pieces are solemnly christened “Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,” highlighting the strong religious element that defined many Confederate soldiers. Jackson emphasizes rigorous training, drawing from history and stressing the importance of the bayonet, while welcoming the arrival of the flamboyant cavalry officer J.E.B. Stuart. The moment builds to a stirring address to the assembled troops, where the men are reminded of their duty to defend their homes and state. The speech underscores the painful shift from loyalty to the Union to the defense of Virginia, framing the coming conflict as one of necessity rather than choice. It’s a raw and dramatic portrayal of how the war began for many in the South — not with grand battles, but with the solemn raising of an army from among friends and neighbors. A compelling look at leadership, duty, and the personal cost of a nation dividing. #GodsAndGenerals #StonewallJackson #CivilWar #AmericanCivilWar #StephenLang #JEBStuart #HistoricalDrama #CivilWarMovie #ConfederateArmy #RaisingAnArmy #HistoryOnScreen #WarMovies #Patriotism #MovieScene #ClassicCinema

This is most likely scenario what happened to James Fields in Charlottesville, VA after the "Unite The Right" protest was declared an unlawful assembly by the Virginia State Police. Note, it was the police that drove the protestors of the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue into the arms of Antifa and anti-whites, producing violent clashes. There were no separation between the two opposing groups, intentionally.

In this clip, Ryan Dawson bizarrely claims the Robert E. Lee statue in Charlottesville was taken down because of Groypers, Richard Spencer, and “outside agitators” who supposedly hijacked the issue for their own agendas while he gets basic facts about the event completely wrong. He argues virtually nobody at Unite the Right actually cared about Lee or Confederate history, falsely claims “not one word” about General Lee was spoken by the groups involved, and even claims the pro Lee side was mostly “bussed in” outsiders. Take note that Ryan, who until recently believed Israel killed Charlie Kirk, is showing off how confidently he can speak about something he doesn't actually know shit about.

25 years ago today, our nation underwent 9/11, a devastating event that still lingers in relevance, remembrance, and impact. For a moment, thereafter was a strong sense of unity and solidarity. I hope someday we’ll get back to that. This is for the ones who never made it home on that day and their families. God bless you all and God bless America❤️🇺🇸🙏🏾 #NeverForget
