ICE is hammering Danbury, Connecticut today, and a pack of Rabid Responders got way too close while the agents were working. They ignored the order to back up, so the agents had to push them off the arrest. Of course one of them called the agents Nazis. Pepper spray was justified the second he closed that gap. I really wish they would use it.

🚨BREAKING: ICE agents illegally arrested a U.S. citizen for not carrying ID… then dumped him an hour and a half later, miles away, in Minneapolis. In the video, a U.S. citizen is standing in a parking lot while agents illegally racially profile him and try to “run” his information. They can’t identify him. Bystanders repeatedly tell the agents he is a U.S. citizen and that they cannot take him. The agents ignore everyone, walk him to their vehicle, and take him anyway. An hour and a half later, after illegally detaining and transporting him, they drop him off miles from where they kidnapped him. That is an unlawful detention. That is an unlawful arrest. That is government agents disappearing a U.S. citizen because he didn’t have “papers” on him. And this is exactly why you never answer ICE’s questions. The only thing you should ever say to an agent is: “Am I being detained, or am I free to go?” If they are stopping you, they should already know who you are.

🚨BREAKING: (CHICAGO SUBURBS) ICE agents pulled a GUN, and a TASER, on unarmed U.S. citizens for recording them from a public sidewalk… while threatening, “you aren’t going to like the outcome.” In the video, legal observers are standing on a public sidewalk recording ICE agents. The agents stop, get out of their cars, and approach THEM. One agent has his GUN drawn, another has his TASER drawn. The agents tell the legal observers to stop following them. A U.S. citizen responds: “We aren’t doing anything illegal. It’s totally legal to follow you.” He is correct. The First Amendment protects the right to record law enforcement, and federal agents, carrying out their duties in public. And federal regulations specifically recognize that people can record publicly accessible federal activity from public sidewalks, and streets, when they aren’t impeding or disrupting operations. Then, the agent says: “Stop following us, you aren’t going to like the outcome.” That is a serious First Amendment retaliation issue. And then it gets even more dangerous. The same armed federal agents, who just threatened these people with weapons and retaliation… surround the citizens’ car and claim THEY are blocking traffic. But look at the video. The only people blocking traffic are the ICE agents… who have now boxed in the citizens’ car. Agents cannot detain someone because they don’t like being watched. A vehicle stop requires reasonable suspicion of an actual legal violation. And recording and observing ICE agents, from a public place, is not obstruction. It is not illegal. Government agents are supposed to be accountable to the people… not the other way around. The First Amendment protects your right to watch and record your government. The Fourth Amendment limits the government’s power to stop and detain you. And neither one comes with an ICE exception.

And what makes this even more disturbing is that when a U.S. citizen is questioning why armed federal agents are on HIS property, the response is to SHOVE him and threaten to arrest him. 🚨This video is terrifying, and it’s exactly why “just comply” does not protect you from ICE/Border Patrol agents, even as U.S. citizens, and why you always film them. In North Carolina, ICE/Border Patrol agents illegally stopped two U.S. citizens. They questioned them without legal cause, took their licenses, and admitted on camera that the men were allowed to record. And they were still attacked. In the video, one man asks if he can film for his safety. The agent says yes, saying that he’ll “have to put his mask on.” The agents take their licenses, ask where they’re from, where they live, what they’re doing in the area, all without legal authority. The men cooperate anyway. Then the situation turns dangerous. Another agent suddenly tells the driver, “Turn off your video. You are being detained, so you are not free to record.” That is false. Recording law enforcement in public is legal, including during detention. The driver calmly refuses, keeps one hand on the steering wheel as instructed, and holds his phone in the other. That’s when the agent lunges for the phone. The agent throws himself into the car, trying to grab the device. When the driver moves it away, the agent assaults him. The agent then illegally opens the car door, something the driver correctly points out they are not allowed to do. The agents keep demanding the filming stop, as multiple agents keep reaching for the phone. Then they escalate again. They threaten arrest, grab the driver, and start hitting him and trying to drag him out of the car, even though he keeps saying, “We haven’t done anything wrong.” When they fail to pull him out, they back away, visibly angry. They turn on the passenger next. An agent grabs him, threatens handcuffs, and assaults him trying to force him out of the vehicle. When that doesn’t work, they start yelling conflicting commands, claiming the men are “interfering with an investigation.” An investigation into what? Their own illegal stop. At one point, an agent shouts that the men can’t interfere, while another tries… again… to grab the phone, almost certainly to stop or erase the recording. Only after all of this do the agents finally release them. Because they are U.S. citizens. Because the stop was illegal. And because the camera was still rolling. This is why you film ICE. This is why compliance doesn’t save you. This is why they hate cameras. If this hadn’t been recorded, this would be another lie in a report, another “resisting” accusation, another abuse buried and denied. Film them. Always.
