I love Hermes Agent and Gemini Live is also one of my for voice conversation, so over the weekend I built a small vibe-coding project that brings the two together called IRIS. The idea is simple: Gemini Live becomes the conversational interface, while Hermes Agent handles execution, automation, and long-running tasks behind the scenes. I can talk to Gemini naturally, and whenever something needs real work, Gemini formulates the request and hands it off to Hermes. The best part is that the conversation never stops. Gemini keeps talking with me naturally while Hermes works in the background. When Hermes finishes, Gemini proactively tells me the results are ready, switches context to the Hermes output, helps me review it, and then we return to our normal conversation. That manager/worker flow feels really good. Because I wanted the app to be as hands-free as possible, I also added a camera-based gesture layer using MediaPipe Gesture Recognizer. I can point at Hermes task cards, open details, scroll through results with my hand, and close them using gestures. Small weekend project, but I had a lot of fun building it. Also, the anti-flicker macOS app I vibe-coded yesterday ended up being incredibly useful for this project. It fixed my webcam flickering issue, so I can finally record videos properly. 🙂

So this game is real now, fully built with GPT-5.5. I told Codex to use the imagegen skill to generate a reference UI and sprites, and used the Build macOS Apps plugin to build the app for a native retro fantasy labyrinth game! Adjusted the UI in a few prompts and here we are!

I found an app combo that makes my audio quality basically perfect in every app – OBS, Zoom, whatever. 1. Audio Hijack – lets me add effects to my actual mic input 2. Loopback – turns the output from Audio Hijack into a virtual input device This lets you use the virtual device as your input in any other app. You can even set it as your whole system's default input. Result: Perfect audio at the time of recording, in any app. I went down a rabbit hole to set this up because I was tired of my Loom recordings sounding so much worse than my YouTube videos. But this also solved issues in OBS, which doesn't support all of my audio plugins for some reason. I'm so pleased the result that I had to shoot a little video on it:

This weekend, I explored a mobile game idea with my kids (they suggested a mobile pokemon-like game) so I had them coming up with ideas for the creatures and I try to visualise them with ChatGPT Images 2.0 and vibe coded a small prototype on Cursor to play around with. The art direction of the creatures are in vinyl toy matte style so it has this toy-like aesthetic quality that I quite like! For a mobile app/game, I went with Expo + React Native to create this mobile app so that I have one code-base for both Android and iOS. So far I'm pretty impressed with Expo's live mobile app preview feature! Being able to easily preview the mobile app on my phone in seconds is a big plus.

VERY COOL!! Thanks jordan for the tip, I can now test my iOS app on web I asked Claude Code to set up serve-sim, a web-based iOS simulator that can stream the iOS app my Claude Code on VPS built live to me, because it's on some Mac Mini in the cloud without even a GUI (it's headless) I cannot actually try it on the Mac itself! Before Claude would make me a page with screenshots but I had no idea how the app felt, now with this it works This is hosted on the Mac Mini via SSH (it shows localhost but it's a tunnel via SSH to the Mac Mini), bit laggy but nice!

This lady’s neighbor speeds by her house every time, kicking up dust everywhere and posing a threat to the kids in the area. She ends up coming up with her own solution whether it’s legal or not, it’s actually kind of funny in a creative way. Maybe by doing that it made things worse, would you have done the same? When I was younger. I was that neighbor. I had a fast car inspired by the Fast and the Furious, it was pretty loud too. My neighbors always complained about my car and called the cops. The funny thing about that was the one that was the most vocal didn’t even live next to me. They lived at the end of the street where I would speed off and chirp my tires. After a few heated exchanges I thought it was over. A month’s went by and I haven’t heard anything. I woke up early for work and noticed my car was egged in a few spots. I got into the car and left, drove to the touch-less car wash and washed the car. I inspected it later and there wasn’t any permanent damage it was just a mess. I didn’t have any cameras at the time so I didn’t know who did it, I always had a suspicion who it was but I couldn’t prove it. I didn’t stop my antics though I kept doing what I did for a few more months until I ended up trading it in for something else.

just dropped my first video in a 5 part series where we build a full travel planner app on Replit and i am so excited 🌍✈️ as a software engineer, design has always felt a little out of reach for me. like i had all these ideas in my head but turning them into something that actually looks good was a whole other skill set. but the Replit Canvas genuinely changed that for me. my favourite way to use the Canvas is to bring in reference images and websites to help me to create designs! in this first video we jump into the Canvas, explore design directions for our travel app, and apply a final look to a real working app. it is so fun i promise. go watch it and let me know what you think 🎨👇

In the late 1970’s, I calculated that we were going to have a global debt default. I was so confident in what that meant for the markets that I went to Congress to share my perspective. I couldn’t have been more wrong. While several countries defaulted on their debt, the impact on markets was the opposite of what I expected. And I lost a lot of money — for me and for my clients. So, I felt like, “Hey, when can I make her happy?” To be honest, the new house that I built for her, where she can do this and that, is finished. The renovations are all done. The cats have moved in. (She?) has a role as the pillar of the house. So, I feel that the car… I had bought one before, but that time, I had to thank the fans. But this time, it came from (my own) hard work. I want it to be something that makes Mama happy. I know that I bought a car, and she can’t drive it, but I want her to see that I am starting… I want her to see that I have succeeded.

I just compared Claude Code vs Codex vs Cursor CLI The task was to build a Next.js app with Tailwind 4 and shadcn components to collect customer feedback and showcase it with a widget. I gave all three the same prompt and let them go for 30 minutes to see what they came up with. Claude Code with Opus 4.1 Even though I told it to set up the app in the existing project folder, it tried to create a directory for it. After I interrupted and told it not to do that, it built a demo form and landing page with no errors. I had to ask it to make the demo interactive so users could submit a testimonial and preview it. The landing page looked like AI and was pretty basic, but it worked and it was done in a fraction of the time of the others. Total tokens used: 33k Codex with GPT-5 At the end of the 30 minutes I just could not get Codex to produce a working app. It got stuck in a loop of not being able to set up Tailwind 4 and despite many, MANY, attempts, I ended up with a "failed to compile" error. Total tokens used: 102k Cursor Agent with GPT-5 This was the slowest agent by far and a couple of times I actually thought it got stuck in a loop and was close to Ctrl+C'ing to cancel it. The TUI is really nice though, especially how it shows diffs and it did eventually build a working app (after one or two slight errors that needed fixing) The demo was interactive and it had a very minimal design that looked bare but also a lot less like an "AI generated" app than the Opus 4.1 design. It also wasn't too chatty and just did what it needed to do! Code quality was on a par with Opus 4.1, but it did use 5.5x as many tokens to get there. Still cheaper than Opus on a direct comparison but not when you factor in a Claude Code Max subscription. Total tokens: 188k I'll be able to do a proper comparison and record some videos when I'm back from holiday but for now, Opus is still the more capable model out of the box and Claude Code is the more complete CLI product. It will be interesting to see how Cursor evolve their CLI though with commands and subagents because I think with GPT-5 they have a real shot at providing competition for Claude Code if they can optimise output to get similar quality with less tokens. Jump to 0:40 in the video to see the two apps. Which do you think is which? ;)

cursor continues to curate the most frictionless way to build software. - planned a new app idea with Cursor Agent (Laptop) - left cafe for gym so i hand off to Cloud Agent (Cloud) - mid workout, i get an msg that my PR is done (Email) - mid pump, i get a new idea. message Cursor via iphone to add it - monday morning comes. i already forgot about my app - cursor emails me w/ a 30 sec demo of agent clicking through the core feature. shows me that it works if you showed me this in 2022, i would have put my life savings into cursor stock immediately

Ok, my mind is blown with Replit Agents. I started using it because I was bored on a train ride a couple of days ago. So today I tried to build a Trello clone and build a fully functional app in like 45 mins. I showed it to a few people in the office and the guy is like "I should quit my job." He built a stock tracking app in 2 mins and added a few features he wanted. I can't imagine the world being the same in 10 years if software writing could be supercharged like this. Replit has really hit it out of the park. I don't need ChatGPT now. I'll just build apps in Replit. I'm a fan and a convert.

Why am I not even surprised by this, I’m afraid if more and teachers have this epiphany then we won’t have any left to teach our kids. This woman used to be a teacher with a master’s degree. I can’t imagine devoting that much time and money to a profession only to find out I could make more just working a normal job. I think more and more that higher education is possibly turning into a scam. Growing up I was always told to focus on school, get an education and I will soar. Not too long after that I found out that wasn’t the case. I don’t even use my degree at all, I got it because I was told by my parents I had to. I worked two jobs while in school so I could graduate without debt, only to put it on the wall and forget about it. I later on went the family business route anyways as I always planned on doing. I feel I was pressured and sold a pipe dream that a degree would be the answer to anything financial for me, that it would unlock possibilities. For me, it closed many doors, many employers saw me as being overqualified. The turning point for me was when I used to go to a hotel with co-workers after work and I got to know my server. Turned out he had a degree in a similar field to mine and he was waiting on tables and in massive student debt because of it. I can tell the college dream turned into a nightmare for him. To spend thousands and not be able to use it to recoup my money would make me feel like the biggest fool around. I felt like if anyone came by to sell me magic beans, I would have a beanstalk in my yard. While not using my degree worked for me, there are so many more others that can’t say the same.
