Ok this is SO COOL 🤯🤯🤯 I just made an AI agent that calls restaurants to make reservations for me. How it works: 1. You punch in the name of the restaurant and desired time and number of guests. 2. It calls the restaurant (in an incredibly real sounding voice) and makes the reservation. 3. If they don't have the time available, it texts you some alternate times (and can call back to make them). If they do, it books it and puts it on your calendar. If they ask, it can even provide allergies and other details, and it's powered by Claude so it can handle pretty much any line of conversation. It's also trained to tell the person it's my AI assistant if they ask or get weirded out by the voice. See attached video and photo. I built it using Lindy. His argument is that these models DO NOT WANT to help you or your enterprise, they want to sell tokens. They aren’t building trust. They are extracting every little bit of value with fake “forward deployed shops” when most companies have no idea what it means to engage in the art of forward deployed engineering because that would require CARING about your customers for months, many times years, WITHOUT getting paid but just focusing on providing outcomes. Karp is saying the truth and he’s backing that truth with 20 years of a company that has been solely focused on outcomes and has the growth to show how much customers also deeply, deeply care about those outcomes in a world of pure extraction from the frontier model companies. He was looking for a metric to measure product/market fit so that he and his team could optimize, and he came across the following methodology from Sean Ellis: Simply ask your users: “How would you feel if you could no longer use the product?” with three options: (1) not disappointed, (2) somewhat disappointed, or (3) very disappointed. It turns out that the benchmark for product/market fit across hundreds of venture-backed startups is 40% of respondents saying “very disappointed”.
