Today, we signed a major Memorandum of Understanding with Belstar and ENKA Consortium to drive the rehabilitation, expansion, and construction of waterworks across Lagos State. This is a major milestone in our commitment to ensuring sustainable, safe, and reliable water supply for all Lagosians. The project, which covers both the rehabilitation of existing water facilities (Brownfield) and the construction of new ones (Greenfield), will bridge critical gaps in underserved communities, tackle distribution issues, and help eradicate waterborne diseases. There have been meetings at various levels, and one of our top priorities is securing long-range capabilities for our Defense Forces. This is crucial to preventing the terror that our Kharkiv and other cities across Ukraine are forced to endure. Clearing Ukrainian skies of Russian guided bombs is a powerful step toward forcing Russia to seek an end to the war and a just peace. Our representatives have provided all the necessary information and details to our partners. I am calling on the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany – we need the means to fully and effectively protect Ukraine and its people. We need permissions for long-range capabilities, as well as your long-range shells and missiles. Making these vital decisions cannot be delayed – these are the actions that can have the most significant impact on the course of events. We are also discussing air defense with our partners – systems that are especially needed now, before the start of the school year, to provide more safety for Ukrainian children in schools, for our cities, and our energy infrastructure. We have agreements with partners on air defense systems and missiles for these systems. It's crucial to implement everything as quickly as possible. We are working even more actively these days to secure such news – additional air defense systems. I thank everyone around the world who is helping. Many people have been wondering why there is so much raw sewage in Zimbabwe’s Lake Chivero, Harare’s main source of drinking water. These are sewer pipes in Harare, they are carrying raw sewage but as you can see, they are old and no longer fit for purpose. Today, the entirety of Zimbabwe’s capital city, Harare, lacks a modern sewer system because successive ZANUPF governments have failed to maintain, let alone replace, this critical infrastructure. Those of you who grew up in Zimbabwe’s urban areas during the 1980s will remember how we used to run on top of these sewage pipes as kids. All they required was regular maintenance and timely replacement where needed. How do they even continue pumping sewage when it all ends up in the Mukuvisi River which pushes it to the drinking water source, Lake Chivero? This level of incompetence and corrupt governance is both historic and insane, it should not be happening in a country like Zimbabwe, whose citizens hold powerful engineering jobs across the globe. How did we sink to this level of embarrassment, where we can’t even sort out sewer pipes because of a broken economy authored by a corrupt authoritarian regime? Does the central government understand that it authored this disaster through years of looting and economic mismanagement and hiring incompetent people? When we raise these issues, we are called Western puppets, yet our people are literally walking on top of raw sewage!
