Tom Brady says the NFL takes $100,000 from a player for one mistake and fans cheer for it. “What other job on earth works that way?” “What they start doing is they start fining you $50K, $75K and I hate that. You sign a contract for $2 million a year, $5 million a year…” “And it’s so easy for someone to say, Give me $50K, $75K, oh it’s your second offense, that’s $100K, that’s your third offense” “What job is like that in the world, where you make a mistake at your job and they come and go, Hey, we’re going to take your salary away? And then people are like, Yeah, you should take his salary away”

Nick Saban reflects on the loneliness of being a head coach and the value of having people who help you see beyond your own perspective. “Especially once you get to be a head coach, who do you talk to?...It’s interesting sometimes that the outside perspective is a little different than your perception of what it might be. And that’s very, very helpful.” When you’re immersed in the daily demands of leading a team, it can be difficult to recognize your own blind spots, question your assumptions, or see the toll the job is taking. As the saying goes, it’s hard to read the label from inside the jar. People outside your day-to-day world can help you recognize what you might otherwise overlook. Those relationships also give you space to speak honestly and work through challenges without feeling like you need to have every answer. Coaches spend so much time investing in others. They deserve relationships where someone is invested in them. If you’d like to build more support around you, I’m happy to help you explore what that could look like and who/what might help. 🎥: This Past Weekend with Theo Von

Just a reminder, when you go to a hospital because your sick, it’s the not nurses job to cure or diagnose you, it’s their job to make sure they run as many test as possible so they can make your bill as high as possible. The sicker they make you out to be the more test they can run and the more than can bill you and your insurance company.

Joe Mazzulla says his goal as Celtics coach is to be forgotten “If the people around you didn’t do what they do… I wouldn’t do anything. The thing I reflect on the most is… I think you have to be willing to be forgotten. I think that’s kind of my main goal.” “I want to be forgotten about. Because that means after you… It was better. I think that’s what it means to be a Celtic. However long you play, coach, work for the Celtics…” “Your job is to keep it exactly where it’s at or bring it better. You cannot bring it down. If you leave and it gets worse, that’s your fault. If you leave and they win, and they forgot about you, you did your job.” “I talk about that every day with the staff. Our job is to one day be forgotten about because you did your job. It became about something bigger than you.” “It’s a burden and a love for being with the Celtics… But it’s a responsibility. I think we could take that into our daily life. Can I leave it so much better that they don’t remember me because the next person came and was better?”

Do you see your job as ending vaccine hesitancy or do you see your job as telling the truth to the American people? …You’re repeating it like a parrot!… All you do is repeat things that people told you and say “TRUST THE EXPERTS!”

Matt Walsh: I wouldn’t become a police officer even if it made me the world’s second trillionaire. Matt Walsh “There is no amount of money that would ever make me take this job at this point.” “You’re risking your life to protect these communities who hate you… they’re just waiting for the smallest mistake to ruin your life. And even if you don’t make a mistake, they still might try to ruin your life.” “And they know that the second they're in any kind of difficult potentially life-threatening situation, there are two very possible outcomes. One is they die and the other is they go to jail forever.” “What is even a sinister reason for someone to take on a job like that considering it also doesn't pay that well. Most of these people are in this job actually because they really want to protect and serve the community. There's there's literally no other motivation at this point to take the job.”

A visibly frustrated Tom Brady shares how much he “hates” the NFL’s fine system. He asks what kind of job says: “Hey, we’re going to take your salary away” when you make a mistake. He also can’t stand that some fans cheer when players get slapped with $100,000 fines. “I hate the fact that you sign a contract for $2 million a year, $5 million a year, and it’s so easy for someone to say, ‘Give me $75,000,’ ‘Give me $50,000.’” “‘Oh, it’s your second offense? That’s $100,000.’ ‘That’s your third offense? $200,000.’” “What job is like that in the world? Where you make a mistake at your job, and they come, and they go, ‘Hey, we’re going to take your salary away.’” “And then people are like, ‘Yeah, you should take his salary away.’ And I’m like [throws his hands up in the air].” A visibly frustrated Tom Brady shares how much he “hates” the NFL’s fine system. This moment postgame from Fordham HC Keith Urgo is a perfect example of why all his players speak so highly of him. “I want to apologize to the seniors. We had enough talent to be really successful this year, and I failed them…I feel bad that they didn’t get to experience what we believed we could’ve. That’s on me — I didn’t do a good enough job with this team.” It’s no secret this season didn’t go the way they hoped, and there are adjustments this staff needs to make. But that’s the accountability I want to see if I’m a Fordham fan. My two cents — you can make changes to your system/gameplan. But it’s hard to replicate the passion and commitment that Keith Urgo has for this program.

You can have more money than me. You can have a “better” job than me. But your money and your job can never create this moment. Because you see my son? He came from me, not from my wallet. That is why real happiness is ourselves, not the things we buy.

Rich Paul says $3.2 million is “a lot of money” and too many NBA players cut themselves short because of ego “They should go away from this ‘minimum and maximum contract.’” “It’s like $3.2 million.” “That’s a lot of money for just a regular job.” “People don’t understand that.” “If you can make that for three years or five years on your way out…” “When you finally understand what money actually is…” “And what to do with it…” “Your family is finally settled.” “You’re living in a house that you’ll probably live in for the rest of your life.” “If you can catch two or three extra years at the end…” “Guys are cutting themselves short based upon ego and attitude.” “Then they wonder why.”

You applied for an overnight security job that pays almost double over any other security job that you’ve had or seen. Everyone else that had this job quit within a week. You are required to make rounds at different parts of the building once an hour. Sometimes you think you must be tired because you hear faint whispering or conversation. Sometimes you hear noises that seem to echo throughout the whole building and you have no idea where it’s coming from. Having no contact with anyone for almost 8 hours a night seems to make your thoughts in your head seem louder. How long could you do a job like this that isolates you from others, sometimes your own mind running endlessly can be the most terrifying thing in the world.

This guy charged $3,250 for trimming the hedges, bushes and mulch job that he did. Would you have paid that❓ Opinions very from people on what they feel the cost should be. I know many would do the work themselves, but, if you couldn’t, do you think that’s a fair price? 🤔

Bill Belichick breaks down leadership into two things - and it's simpler than you think. "Leadership to me is 2 things: doing your job and putting the team first." Let me explain. "If you can't do your job, then you don't have any leadership." "And if you do your job for selfish reasons and don't care about the team, then the team doesn't really embrace you." It means focusing on your action and what you consistently do. People want leaders that are selfless, consistent, and people of character. "If you do your job and you're a good teammate, then you have good leadership - regardless of whether you're vocal, not vocal, whatever your leadership style is." "There's a lot of different leadership styles. But if you can do your job, everybody will respect you. And if you put the team first, everybody will respect you." Leadership isn't a title - it's your behaviors. The behaviors according to Belichick: Do your job. Put the team first. Earn respect through actions. (🎥Ray Dalio)
