A few hours ago there was a strike on the Slovyansk Thermal Power Plant – a strike with Russian bombs. Sadly, two people were killed. My condolences. There are also wounded. This is outright terror. Normal people don’t wage war like this, and the world must respond appropriately to such Russian warfare. It is very important that we have specific agreements with Norway precisely in the field of energy – support for our gas purchases. We also have agreements with Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands, and we are working with them on equipment for electricity generation. We are counting on the support of the European Commission as well. Today, Minister of Energy of Ukraine is having a meeting with representatives of the Group of Seven – the G7 energy ministers – countries that certainly can and will support Ukraine. Our international activities for February are planned by the day. There will be more negotiations, meetings, and new agreements for Ukraine, which will strengthen our warriors. We are also currently working with a few countries on new security commitments, and the agreements we are preparing have the potential to be quite ambitious and substantive. I am grateful to the diplomatic teams involved in this work. We must show results in the coming months in developing the architecture of security agreements that will send positive signals throughout the year. These will be signals of effective and long-term support for Ukraine, as well as our partners' confidence in Ukraine's ability to defend itself against Russian aggression. The world is ready to practically help only those whose strength is evident.

As of now, it is believed that more than 200 people were in the hypermarket. All the emergency services are already on the site and providing assistance, rescuing people, and extinguishing the fire that has completely engulfed the building – 10,000 square meters. Our representatives have provided all the necessary information and details to our partners. I am calling on the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany – we need the means to fully and effectively protect Ukraine and its people. We need permissions for long-range capabilities, as well as your long-range shells and missiles. Making these vital decisions cannot be delayed – these are the actions that can have the most significant impact on the course of events. Our representatives have provided all the necessary information and details to our partners. I am calling on the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany – we need the means to fully and effectively protect Ukraine and its people. We need permissions for long-range capabilities, as well as your long-range shells and missiles. Making these vital decisions cannot be delayed – these are the actions that can have the most significant impact on the course of events. We are also discussing air defense with our partners – systems that are especially needed now, before the start of the school year, to provide more safety for Ukrainian children in schools, for our cities, and our energy infrastructure. We have agreements with partners on air defense systems and missiles for these systems. It's crucial to implement everything as quickly as possible. We are working even more actively these days to secure such news – additional air defense systems. I thank everyone around the world who is helping. I thank to all of Ukraine’s friends who do not stay silent about Russian terror, who respond to the attacks, spread the truth about this war, and urge the world to be more decisive and therefore more effective in defending against Russia.

These past weeks have been especially intense with our international meetings. There are agreements on defense packages and joint production – with the UK, the Netherlands, Canada, and other partners. There are also areas for collaboration with the U.S. Many agreements have been reached with France and Germany as well. All of these need to be effectively implemented: from joint drone production and investments to our long-range capability projects, including missile development. Today, there is also a decision to significantly accelerate sanctions pressure on Russia. I thank our partners who are already preparing the EU’s 18th sanctions package. New sanction measures have also been introduced by the UK and Canada. We are coordinating on sanctions with all G7 nations, as well as with other key global jurisdictions. Russia’s accountability for this war and our sanctions pressure must be operating at full capacity. They must leave no room for Russia or its cronies to adapt. I thank everyone who is helping.

All day today, efforts have been underway to eliminate the consequences of the Russian strike on our cities and communities. Various regions – from Kharkiv and Sumy to Ivano-Frankivsk. There was a massive attack on Kyiv. A significant number of “shaheds” and missiles were shot down. And every such wave of Russian strikes reminds us of two things: air defense – we need more systems, more coverage across our country – and also our long-range strikes on Russia. If Putin is off the deep end with this “shahed” obsession and terror, they must be left without logistics. Everyone working to protect lives and limit Russia’s war potential is working toward achieving peace. I also thank all partners who are pushing for new and stronger sanctions, including secondary sanctions. Let Russian bravado not deceive anyone – they are truly feeling the impact of sanctions. And they must end the aggression. Russia must end the war it started, nobody else needs this war but Russia.
