We all need a modern and truly effective defense system capable of protecting against any threats. The war has changed, and now, without genuinely strong protection against every type of drone, no one can feel secure. Ukraine has developed a special format of security agreement, which we call the Drone Deal format. We propose combining our military expertise and defense capabilities with those of our partners, specifically in drones, missiles, electronic warfare, and data sharing. Importantly, Italy has shown interest in this format of cooperation, and Giorgia and I agreed that our teams will work through the details of a Drone Deal between Ukraine and Italy. According to Drone Forces Commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, Ukrainian forces destroyed a 9S32M1 engagement radar, a critical component of Russia’s S-300V air defense system. This radar is essential for tracking and guiding missiles against aircraft and ballistic targets. Losing it severely degrades the S-300V’s combat effectiveness and is not easily replaceable. During its first-ever live-fire exercise simulating a coordinated swarm attack, 50 drones flew in low from about a half mile away. Air defense crews shot down 44 with Vulcan guns, while a portable laser and shotguns took out the remaining six. However, we have not yet seen any visual confirmation or received more details on the matter (I don't mean to imply that he is lying) – video footage and details of Skynex air defence systems in Ukrainian service are very rarely released and so far only shows the interception of Russian loitering munitions. Officially, Germany has so far delivered two Skynex systems to Ukraine and promised two more. Unofficially, at least one, if not both, of the promised systems should already be in service in Ukraine, as both were to be delivered by the end of 2025.
