During the meeting with Rob Jetten of the Netherlands Rob Jetten, the key focus was, of course, security. Today, we devoted significant attention specifically to security issues. Ukraine proposed to the Netherlands a format for a special agreement on security partnership – our Drone Deal. And this is not only about drones as such, but also about the comprehensive development of all air defense capabilities – protection against missiles and drones, the development of electronic warfare, and our joint weapons production. We tasked our teams with working out all the details, and we signed documents to begin this work – both on the Drone Deal and on the first joint production specifically with the Netherlands. Thank you for today’s exchange of assessments of the situation in international relations, especially in light of the war in Iran, which is currently affecting virtually everyone in the world. We in Europe need to engage more, coordinate more, in order to protect European interests in the face of such a global crisis. Thank you for all the support.

During my meeting with the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, we focused primarily on our defense cooperation and agreed to work together within the Drone Deal format: our countries now have such bilateral agreement. The agreement is intended to strengthen both our countries in defense, and importantly, it is built on the principle of reciprocity – we support our partners who provide real and tangible support for our defense. A Ukrainian military expert team will work in Lithuania to develop the necessary security capabilities, first and foremost to counter modern threats and strengthen the security of our countries and the entire region. The challenges we face are shared, and we must overcome them together. We value Lithuania’s principled support and its readiness to strengthen defense and make it truly capable of responding to any Russian attacks. I am also grateful to Gitanas Nausėda for his clear position on our European integration – all six negotiation clusters for Ukraine should be opened.

Through the Drone Deals format, Ukraine receives long-term, annual funding for the country and for Ukrainian defense manufacturers – a stable financial foundation for the defense industry. Our partners, in turn, receive modern defense capabilities. Drone Deals have now been concluded with 9 countries, and another 15 agreements are in the works. Rustem Umerov will continue to coordinate all of this work. To give him greater capacity to focus specifically on matters at the intersection of diplomacy and defense – as well as on the negotiation process with the United States and other designated partners, and on negotiations to end Russia’s war – Rustem Umerov will be appointed Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine. Russia is carrying out hundreds of strikes against Ukrainian cities and communities, attacking our civilian infrastructure every day. This past week alone, the Russians have launched 1,920 attack drones, 1,790 guided aerial bombs, and 17 missiles of various types against Ukraine. We need to step up our countermeasures against these attacks. We are preparing for meetings with partners to strengthen our defense against this Russian terror. The G7, EU, and NATO summits are ahead. And it is very important that these negotiations result in concrete decisions. We expect meaningful meetings with our partners. First and foremost, we need support for air defense and our long-range capabilities, an expansion of cooperation in the Drone Deals format, and further strengthening of sanctions pressure on Russia. We must end this war in a dignified way and with guaranteed security. And it is through strength, the unity of partners, and pressure on Russia that this can be achieved in a lasting way. I thank everyone who is helping us!

Our experience is already being used in the Middle East and the Gulf. We are improving defense against “shahed” drones, and we believe this should also be done in Europe. Today, for this purpose, we initiated a Drone Deal with Norway and signed a Joint Declaration on Enhanced Defense and Security Cooperation. Now our teams will work out the details. We also focused on our joint production projects and cooperation priorities for this year, and not only in defense. We continue to work together with partners to strengthen our countries. I personally thank Jonas, Norway, and all Norwegians for their military and energy support for Ukraine, for strengthening our air defense, and for their readiness to continue support for the PURL initiative. These are concrete things to strengthen our joint defense and co-production, and, importantly, this also means Ukraine’s expertise and experience helping to strengthen our partners. This is exactly the kind of systemic cooperation we are building with those who have consistently supported us throughout all the years of Russia’s war. During our meeting, I presented the Prime Minister with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, II Class. And today, our countries took a critical step forward—we signed the Joint Declaration on Enhanced Security and Defense Cooperation. This important document formalizes areas such as exchange of experience, defense industrial cooperation, and air defense. We also continue to work on an agreement in the Drone Deal format. This is already Ukraine’s ninth such agreement, and it is important that more and more partners are joining this format, which opens up greater opportunities for joint defense production, the exchange of expertise, and transparency in weapons exports. Together, we are building a new security architecture. I thank Denmark, and personally Mette, for this step toward strengthening our shared defense. It was with Denmark that we began joint production in Ukraine under the Danish model, and it is absolutely fair that Denmark will now have access to Ukrainian exports of weapons tested in war. Today, we also discussed with the Prime Minister Statsministeriet the strengthening of our air defense and work on European anti-ballistic defense. It is extremely important for us right now to receive Patriot missiles as quickly as possible and to jointly develop our own European capabilities to counter ballistic threats. I thank Denmark for its continued support for our people – for its defense and financial assistance, and for all its contributions to the PURL initiative.

I thank Sweden for all its support for Ukraine – for our people and for our defense. Sweden is absolutely committed to protecting life, and we value this immensely. Today, we have a new support package for Ukraine, and the most important element of it is the Swedish Gripen fighter jets, which will strengthen our air force. Overall, this year, next year, and our future cooperation are all about building Ukraine’s fleet of Swedish Gripens. This will help us guarantee the security of Ukraine and Ukrainians. Today, the Ulf Kristersson and I also discussed the details of our cooperation across all other areas. I briefed him on the situation in Ukraine – on the battlefield and in our defense against Russian strikes. We need our own European antiballistic capabilities in sufficient quantity and with sufficient strength. We will work on this, including within the NB8 format – one of our most effective formats, bringing together Ukraine, the Nordic countries, and the Baltic states. I am also grateful to Sweden for all the sanctions steps – everything that limits Russia’s capacity for aggression.

The Minister and I share the view that the Drone Deal between Ukraine and Denmark should be concluded as soon as possible. We paid special attention to joint work on anti-ballistic capabilities. Europe’s capabilities in this area must be strengthened. We also discussed the contents of the next, already 30th, support package. We must not back down in our fight against the aggressor. For this fight to be effective, we need the support of allies, most notably the United States. Thank you, Italy, for hosting this visit and for your unwavering support for Ukraine and Ukrainians. I especially want to thank you for the respect shown to our state, to our independence and territorial integrity, and to our people. Respect is just as important as security. When people and states are respected, and when security is guaranteed, there can be truly dignified relations and normal life. This is exactly how we work together with Italy and with all our partners to guarantee security in every sense of the word and to ensure that relations between us are always friendly and meaningful. A Berlin format meeting with partners. The main focus was on the situation in our energy sector and our reconstruction. Ukraine will prepare and send partners a list of needs to support our energy infrastructure and military capabilities. We are counting on their support. Attention was also given to security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe. We also discussed our diplomatic work and the importance of assistance to Ukraine. Support for the PURL initiative must continue, and the full potential of the SAFE instrument for joint weapons production with Ukraine must be realized. Ukrainians, along with all other Europeans, must feel secure in their future and assured that Russian aggression will never occur again. I thank our partners who understand this and help. We aligned our positions, coordinated next steps, and agreed on further contacts within the broader circle.

Reconnaissance UAVs, FPV drones on fiber optics, ground robotic platforms, interceptor drones, electronic warfare and signals intelligence systems, communication systems, river drones, and drone missiles – all of these are actively operating on the battlefield, working and defending. All of them are products of Ukraine’s defense industry, which has been revived and significantly developed over the past three years of Russia’s full-scale invasion. These important items, which help our warriors, were shown to our partners at the Support Ukraine Summit. Thank you for investing in our defense production, in what helps Ukraine become stronger. This year, we will produce even more drones of all types.
