We continue to record steady and measurable progress on the reconstruction of the Lagos–Abeokuta Road, with intensified construction activities ongoing across key sections including Itori, Papalanto, Ifo, Ewekoro and towards the Sango axis. Rigid pavement works and reinforced concrete drainage are advancing at Ewekoro and along the Ewekoro–Papalanto corridor, while asphalt laying of both binder and wearing courses has been completed in parts of Sango Ota and Obada Oko. Across other sections of the route, grading, spreading and compaction of sub-base materials are actively underway, particularly around the Itori axis and Iyana Ilogbo. My Tinubu has done this to the good people of Arewa. Abuja–Kaduna Highway Nears Completion: 118km Concrete Section Hits 95% with Solar Lighting. The 118km reinforced concrete pavement section of the Abuja–Kaduna road project is now 95% completed and fully equipped with solar street lighting. Built to the same durable standard as the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, this phase of the project is valued at ₦252 billion, with over 80% of the cost already covered under the leadership of President Tinubu. The section is scheduled for full completion by the first week of May 2026. Work is also progressing steadily on the remaining 164km stretch in Kaduna State, which is being constructed using the same reinforced concrete pavement standard. This phase is valued at ₦502 billion, with 70% of the funding already disbursed. The entire Abuja–Kaduna road project is on track for full completion by December 2026, and will feature comprehensive solar lighting throughout. This milestone reflects a strong commitment to delivering durable road infrastructure and improving connectivity across the region.

We tracked the Sokoto Badagry Super-Highway from both ends this month, the Lagos axis and Sokoto axis. On the Lagos end, the project is currently within Ogun State, stretching from Diya Gate, OPIC Estate, Agbara to Iyana Idoye, Lusada. Sparse work was observed at Odugbe in Lusada, Ado Odo/Ota LGA. The project terminated at Phase 4, Atan with only one side of the road under construction by Hitech Construction Company Limited. At the Sokoto end in Illela LGA, work was ongoing, bush clearing, sand filling, and site preparation. On the section towards Katami, Silame LGA, Sokoto and in Kebbi State, some portions have been completed with concrete paving and solar lighting installed. Progress is uneven and slow. Now here is what has been committed on paper, FEC has approved contracts worth N2.36tn for the highway since 2024, (N947bn for Kebbi single carriageway in August 2024, N456bn for Sokoto 120km section in October 2024 flagoff and N961bn for Kebbi second carriageway for August 2025). We tracked the Sokoto Badagry Super-Highway from both ends this month, the Lagos axis and Sokoto axis. On the Lagos end, the project is currently within Ogun State, stretching from Diya Gate, OPIC Estate, Agbara to Iyana Idoye, Lusada. Sparse work was observed at Odugbe in Lusada, Ado Odo/Ota LGA. The project terminated at Phase 4, Atan with only one side of the road under construction by Hitech Construction Company Limited. At the Sokoto end in Illela LGA, work was ongoing, bush clearing, sand filling, and site preparation. On the section towards Katami, Silame LGA, Sokoto and in Kebbi State, some portions have been completed with concrete paving and solar lighting installed. Progress is uneven and slow. Now here is what has been committed on paper, FEC has approved contracts worth N2.36tn for the highway since 2024, (N947bn for Kebbi single carriageway in August 2024, N456bn for Sokoto 120km section in October 2024 flagoff and N961bn for Kebbi second carriageway for August 2025).
