MEGA update: 🥳 IT WORKS: we now have a working dial up internet connection on a virtual Windows 3.11 computer running inside a browser over a virtual modem that talks via Websockets to a PPP daemon! So you can open open the computer, browse the web and even open the page you're on itself again at or chat inside mIRC chat app on or browse gopher:// or whatever you like to do Probably the nerdiest challenge I've ever taken on for the totally arbitrary reason that it seemed completely impossible to do this but we did it (now need to test it more so that it works with 250 parallel users at same time, but the prototype works now, so if you ask why it's not live yet) James Baicoianu, probably one of 2 people in the world who knows how to do this, helped fix my setup and created a virtual dial up internet provider for me that we can dial in to Somehow my mouse doesn't work yet, so I had to do it with the keyboard but here we run Winsock to dial up on a virtual modem that runs then emulates a virtual dial up ISP over Websockets [Next todo] - Fix the mouse - Make the 90mb emulated file smaller - See if it doesn't die with 10 or 50 parallel users - Speed up the Em-Dosbox emulator a bit so it's more usable

🖨️ It took over a year and lots of help from Claude Code but I have now been able to create a real dot matrix printer on the web that prints from Windows 3.11 in your browser: Here's the test page: I couldn't get the LPT1 port to work but COM2 did work (the dial up model already uses COM1), the JS receives the COM2 serial data (just raw print data) and then prints it Next is to make the dot matrix printer better looking (kinda 3d like on pieter dot com) and have the paper also flowing in 3d out of the printer and integrate it on the page My idea was that it might work because we also capture the COM1 data (from the dial up modem) and send it to a Websocket as a dial up connection, so we should be able to capture the COM2 traffic too but I didn't know how, but now I do IT WORKS!! 😊

We added a device tool bar to the Codex in-app browser, so it's easier to build and test responsive apps! Now, you can have Codex test your app in different dimensions, so it can fix bugs & improve UI for every device. Just click the 3 dots on the right of the URL bar to use it! THIS GUY GOT SICK OF OPENING 30 TABS ON WIKIPEDIA SO HE VIBE CODED A VISUAL BROWSER FOR IT we all know the wikipedia rabbit hole. you click one article, then another link inside it, then another, then another. 30 tabs deep and you forgot where you started this guy built a canvas based browser where every article you click opens as a card on an infinite canvas. every link between articles is a visible connection you can: > look up any article > browse the home screen > draw connections > add post-it nodes > even save your boards locally instead of losing yourself in tabs you can see your entire research path laid out visually like a mind map click an article. the linked topics branch out around it. click one of those. it branches further. your entire rabbit hole is one visual map you can zoom in and out of someone said that this should exist for the entire internet the concept is called "canvas-like browsing" and its a great way to do research reading wikipedia has always been the best way to learn about anything and now you can actually see how everything connects

✨ Today I rebuilt 🏔️ AltaVista Search, the main search engine before Google existed The problem: if you press the 🔍Search button in MSIE4 it'll open a sidebar with AltaVista in it that opens: http:// home . microsoft . com/search/search.asp But that URL doesn't resolve anymore of course, so how do I make this work? I asked Claude Code and built a Dnsmasq DNS server that routes all regular DNS queries to Cloudflare but for home . microsoft . com it hijacks it and sends it to my own server Then I let Nginx respond to that doamin and show the Altavista Search sidebar, I had to rebuild the design from a video on YouTube because I couldn't find any actual archeological remains of it anymore Also Altavista Search of course doesn't exist anymore so it can't respond to queries either so I use a SERP API to query search results from Google and display them instead This is stuff I wouldn't even be close to doing before AI, I'd have no idea how to configure Dnsmasq to spoof queries like this The search engine results are proxied via my HTTP proxy so MSIE4 can open most sites (because old browsers don't support HTTPS and most JS!)

It can now login with your credentials, scrape data, monitors communities and generates leads.. all in the background while you sleep First how you can set it up, > Open Claude Desktop > Click the plus (+) icon in the chat bar and select Connectors (or "Manage Connectors") > Click Add Custom Connector and enter the following details - Name: Firecrawl - URL: dev/{FIRECRAWL_API_KEY}/v2/mcp - API Key: Paste your API key from the Firecrawl dashboard. > Click Add. then just enable and Authorize, > Once added, find "Firecrawl" in your connectors list and toggle it on. > Claude will ask for approval to use the connector; select Always Allow to let it run tasks without prompting you every time can start using it normally in chat now.. Prompt it like: "Go to [website], extract [data], and organize it" It opens its own browser, navigates, scrapes, and brings you clean results. will share how i use this setup in my next post, so be sure to follow me and turn post notifications on.$
