Every year, our culmination event is held in August, between August 1 and August 15. Throughout the year, we organise programmes across India and in several countries for children and young people aged 11 to 19. Today, this age group is referred to as Gen Z and Gen Alpha. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat ji’s remarks on Gen Z are a thoughtful beginning. “Their grievance is genuine.” He also makes an important distinction: in a democracy, protest is a legitimate means to build consensus when dialogue fails, but it must aim to resolve differences, not deepen divisions. Recognising genuine concerns while reaffirming the value of dialogue is the hallmark of a confident democracy. If this becomes the starting point for engaging with Gen Z, it is a welcome and constructive step.

When I enquired about his age, he didn’t turn out a Gen-Z. This is the problem with those in power. They don’t understand the young generation’s language.
