VRC Light Volumes v.3.0.0 will support Area Light realtime texture emission, almost like LTCGI. Less physically accurate, but very performant!

It supports Textures, Render Textures, Custom Render Textures and Materials. It also uses fallback average color for shaders that supports Light Volumes v.2.x.x, so your older avatars will not stand out anyway. The performance cost of it seems very cheap.

Red every time i turn around you have some new marvelous improvement to VRCLV, what have we done to deserve such fast innovation!?

Average light volumes W

I already mostly do this now but I still use LTCGI for reflections. Its really awesome because people in standalone get to see really amazing screen lighting. Amazing work!

Fantastic work!

He just can't stop cooking fr

incredible..

you simply cannot stop cooking, keep it up, you're honestly the goat

Oh nice. I have a world where I imported ancient real-time cpu enlightenin which may stop working in the near future, so this would be a welcome alternative to that and ltcgi

おぉ~✨すごい👀

my framerate going lower than my iq

When you say less physically accurate. I'm assuming it's color averages of the video texture in a very dense volume and not a full textured reflection like an LTC?

I mean that attenuation is an approximation... Also there's no real reflection, only a low frequency light emission.

Oh that's pretty cool then. Avatars will appreciate this

w song choice!

This is a massive step up for dynamic lighting on avatars and props. Dropping the heavy performance cost of standard real-time reflections while maintaining low frequency emission from CRTs solves one of the biggest bottlenecks in VRChat scene optimization. Solid work.

ooh! i can make glowsticks on my avatar glow without using lights? 🙀

Nope, not on avatars :(

@Silent0264 THANK YOU HOLY SHIT
