The longer our people are held in Russian captivity, the more difficult it will be for them to return to normal life. We must do everything possible and impossible to ensure that this provision of our Peace Formula, namely the return of all prisoners and deportees, is implemented. I thank all of our officials and institutions who are working to ensure the return of Ukrainians. I express my gratitude to all international mediators, relevant states, and their leaders. It is critical not to forget anyone and to find everyone. Military personnel and civilians. Deported children. Crimean political prisoners. Deported families. Absolutely everyone must be found and returned. In today's address to the International Platform for the Release of Civilians Illegally Detained by Russia, I emphasized the importance of bringing Russia, each of its war criminals, and all those involved in our people's deportation and prisoner abuse to justice.

IBRAHIM TRAORÉ: WE WON'T COPY THE IMPERIALISTS' PRISON MODEL On 22 April 2026, President Ibrahim Traoré visited the Baporo Prison, which is at the forefront of the country's prison reform initiatives. Built on 100 hectares of land under the leadership of revolutionary Pan-African former president Thomas Sankara in 1984 and opened in 1986, the prison focuses on rehabilitation through teaching crucial job skills, primarily agriculture, the largest field of work in the country. President Traoré is the first head of state to visit the prison. Burkina Faso is thinking critically about how to create a new model for its justice system, built upon repair rather than punishment. On 8 November, 2024, the country passed a new law allowing judges to sentence people convicted of crimes to one month of community service in place of three months in prison. Community service was defined as agricultural production, livestock or poultry farming, and factory work. Prisoners also have a legal right to one week off for health, family, social, or other personal reasons. President Traoré clearly recognises that those incarcerated in these facilities are not the enemies of the people. Rather, it is the imperialists and their lackeys who constitute the true threat to the nation. PRESIDENT TRAORE TELLS STUDENTS TO STUDY SCIENCE From 9-11 May 2025, President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso visited Moscow, Russia, for the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over N*zi Germany. While in Moscow, President Traoré met with Burkinabé and other African students completing their degrees in Russia. For Traoré, this was the perfect opportunity to encourage the students to increase their scientific knowledge and bring skills back to Burkina Faso that will further the country's security and defence. In this video, Traoré explains that Burkina Faso lacks certain chemicals necessary to transform cotton into gunpowder and explosives. It is no secret that the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) confederation, which Burkina Faso belongs to, is seeking to develop a local weapons industry. Traore's fellow AES President Assimi Goïta declared in January, "The process of equipping the armed and security forces will be perfected in 2025 with the establishment of a military industry. We are actively working on the installation of the armaments factory with units for the assembly of individual and collective weapons, the assembly of light tactical vehicles, and the manufacture of ammunition and explosives for civilian use." Scott Adams once said, “Every skill you acquire doubles your odds of success.” This is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and our Federal Ministry of Education strategy. That’s why we are aggressively reviving our technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system. We aim to equip young men and women with “life skills” that will enable them to be productive members of their communities, while also improving their employability and career opportunities. TVET is one of the cornerstones of our 6-point agenda to reform our education system. We will be creating opportunities for our young Nigerians both men and women to give them life skills to improve their employability irrespective of their level of education — from basic education to tertiary institutions. A skilled workforce is key to President Tinubu’s vision for the nation. We will also be adding to our TVET curriculum life skills in Renewable Energy (Solar), compressed natural gas (CNG) and mechanised farming to also support PBAT’s agenda of ensuring food security in our country. We are working to build a better nation for the next generation.

As much as we suffered as prisoners inside the prisons of the colonialism, all this suffering we endured cannot be compared to the extent of the suffering endured by our great people in the Gaza Strip, and in the West Bank, and everywhere. We, as Palestinian prisoners, were inside the prisons, and even the Palestinian prisoners who are now inside the prisons of the zionist colonialism, they offer the precious and the valuable, and they share with the people of Gaza the same trench in which they defend the rights of our people and in which they stand and form a solid and steadfast rock against all destructive projects aimed at liquidating our cause, displacing our people, and expelling them from their land. And for this, the prisoners truly suffer inside the prisons of the colonialism, but this suffering merges with the collective suffering endured by our people everywhere.”
