PH, Japan Showcase Unified Naval Might in Bilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) launched a new phase of defense cooperation with the successful conduct of the 2nd Bilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) on June 14, 2025, marking one of the first major joint activities following the recently ratified Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) between the Philippines and Japan. More than a maritime drill, the MCA underscored the operationalization of the RAA—an accord that lays the groundwork for increased joint training, humanitarian assistance, and disaster response (HADR) initiatives between the AFP and JSDF. This activity highlights the deepening trust and coordination between the two allies as they respond to traditional and emerging security challenges in the region. Participating Philippine assets included the BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG06), AW159 anti-submarine helicopter, PAF C-208 ISR aircraft, and Search and Rescue units. Meanwhile, Japan deployed the JS Takanami (DDG110) and an SH-60K Seahawk helicopter, demonstrating joint capability in a wide array of naval operations. We believe in something simple at Gecko, “If it isn’t ready, it doesn’t count.” This phrase caries with it an ethos that the US Navy and Gecko Robotics resonate with. To achieve the U.S. NavyCNO's goal of unprecedented readiness (80% of fleet), it requires unprecedented technology and action. That is what this contracts represents. A future where predicting what will fail before it does, becomes a science. Prediction leads to superior planning. Superior planning leads to victory. On Gecko’s 10 year anniversary, and the USA’s 250th anniversary, we couldn’t be more proud to build what will define the bar for decades to come: A new standard that we forge together that everyone else will measure themselves against. IMX 25 involved 5,000 personnel from more than 30 nations and international organizations committed to preserving the rules-based international order and strengthening regional maritime security cooperation. Hosted by U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT), the 12-day exercise offered a unique opportunity for participants to collaborate and illustrate the importance of regional maritime security cooperation. This year’s iterations of IMX is linked with exercise Cutlass Express, a U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa led annual exercise designed to enhance regional maritime awareness and the combined capabilities of partner nations to respond to maritime threats. The operational phase of IMX included partner exchanges on mine countermeasures, unmanned systems and artificial intelligence integration, vessel defense, search and rescue, and mass casualty response. Allies and partners at IMX 25 also had an opportunity to train with Combined Task Force West (CTF-W) Headquarters where partner forces performed Explosive Ordnance Disposal and dive operations, Close Quarters Combat drills, and Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) container climbs. Additionally, CTF-W hosted eight partner nations, including six members from the Republic of Yemen Government (ROYG) Coast Guard in Aqaba, the Northern Red Sea, and Eilat. “IMX 25 demonstrates the collective commitment of our respective allies and partners to support regional maritime security cooperation, increase interoperability, and strengthen security and stability in the region,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM commander. This is the ninth iteration of IMX since its establishment in 2012.

Air pollution in North India is a national emergency—a public health crisis that is stealing our children’s future and suffocating the elderly, and an environmental and economic disaster that is ruining countless lives. The poorest among us suffer the most, unable to escape the toxic air that surrounds them. Families are gasping for clean air, children are falling sick, and millions of lives are being cut short. Tourism is declining and our global reputation is crumbling. The cloud of pollution covers hundreds of kilometres. Cleaning it up will need major changes and decisive action - from governments, companies, experts and citizens. We need a collective national response, not political blame games. As Parliament meets in a few days, MPs will all be reminded of the crisis by our irritated eyes and sore throats. It is our responsibility to come together and discuss how India can end this crisis once and for all.

We deeply appreciate all the support for Ukraine and are especially grateful for the decision to allocate $3.3 billion this year for humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people. Together, we can also assist other nations where restoring stability is crucial. Our humanitarian initiative, Food from Ukraine, is aimed at providing food support to the Syrian people. Today, I invited the UN to join this important effort.

Today, I met with the Acting Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon. Ganiu Obasa in company of other heads of agencies, permanent secretaries and directors, to strengthen collaboration between the State and Local Governments on environmental sustainability and waste management. Our discussion focused on how to move from a linear waste system, where we simply pick and drop, to a circular system where waste becomes a resource. This is the future we are building for Lagos. We agreed that real progress in achieving a cleaner, flood-free, and sustainable Lagos must begin at the grassroots. The Local Governments and LCDAs play a critical role in ensuring that every household, market, and street supports the State’s vision for a cleaner environment. As part of our action points: Environmental Health Officers will work directly with LAWMA to strengthen enforcement and ensure prompt waste collection. LASPARK will support identified areas in Agege with greenery and beautification. Drainage engineers attached to the LGA will provide technical support on flooding and channel maintenance. I was free and decided to listen to the recorded SIXR Cricket space and this part alone made it worth it! I have so much respect for fayaztaher for being so far sighted with the project’s growth that it’s not just restricted to the digital world or benefiting a small audience. This initiative to open academies/foundations to give deserving kids a platform to express their talent is something that can truly benefit the sport. It’s great to see that the main goal is to grow the pool of players as well as the cricketing nations & global fandom for cricket rather than running the project just to chase views or cash. Now i’m even more excited for what the future holds and how big this can get if professional cricketers fully support the idea and if SIXR TV also becomes a reality so the world sees the name more openly. He also mentioned that he and Ahad have been together since they were super young, so i want to appreciate him as well because i’m sure he has a major role in the planning behind all of this. Dear Jamaica Gleaner, gentle reminder from last week's press conference where I clarified that 2500 over time are confirmed rather than your headline reference. As soon as I obtain a copy of the clip about the planning and preparation aspect, I will share as well. But quickly - We know the numbers will increase. Since we first learnt, Cabinet established an interministerial commitee. Since then it has approved an Action Plan and has established a Technical Working Group on Voluntary and Involuntary Returns which will be guided by the Plan. Prep work, small meetings and outreach from different areas of responsibility have been taking place in the background. More will be shared of course, but be assured that the work is proceeding at the technical level now.We have systems in place because deportation is not new to us, but we are certainly preparing for the change in numbers and scope of returnees. Be assured that panic is not needed as you have a responsible hard working government in place.
