Sidewalks carved into snow canyons, roads running like cattle chutes, and somehow… everything moving again. In most places, this much snow would shut life down. Here, it’s a snowblower symphony at sunrise and back to business by mid-morning. That mountain-town rhythm of dig out, help your neighbor, keep going. As this community gathers for Sunday night’s vigil to remember those lost in the avalanche, you can feel both the weight of the week and the resilience that defines this place. First wave of snow intercepted in Kansas City this morning with a FLUFFY 1-3” of snowfall by late morning Saturday. The second stronger wave tonight into Sunday could drop another 2-4”, with much higher totals south of I70. I am on my way to southern Arkansas into northern Mississippi to cover the #icestorn for AccuWeather

🌬❗ Dangerously cold Friday through Monday. Temperatures near 0° each morning will combine with brisk winds to produce wind chills between -5° and -25°. At the extreme of those wind chill values, frostbite can occur on exposed skin in 30 minutes or less. Once wind chills drop below 0° late Friday night, they will not rise above 0° until Sunday afternoon. Please help me prepare everyone by sharing this. Posted Thursday, January 22, 2026.

❄️ By definition this will be a Bomb cyclone, and it now looks to become a paralyzing coastal #blizzard for New England, Long Island, and perhaps coastal New Jersey and New York City. Many will receive over a foot of snow Sunday into Monday. Coastal gusts in SE New England may reach #hurricane force 75mph+. This is the latest Hi-Res GRAF (IBM) available as of 4pm Friday. In my opinion it’s likely too far north and west with the heaviest snow, so take snow totals N/W of NYC with a grain of salt, for now, until we get closer to the storm. Still coastal locations in Long Island and SE New England will likely see 1-2 feet! Go to Electric Picnic they say It most certainly was electric this afternoon with ome Crazy conditions at electric picnic with torrential downpours and lightning If you plan to head to EP this weekend similar conditions are likely on Sunday with the risk of Thunderstorms. Rain is also expected on Saturday morning so conditions could be fairly poor there and muddy with flooding. The most surprising thing is Met Éireann did not issue any warnings for thunderstorms and downpours especially with a big public Gathering like EP and the dangers lightning can't bring. Tonight, I led a moment of silence with Congressman Cleo Fields and the Louisiana delegation on the House floor to honor the eight precious children whose lives were taken by senseless, unspeakable evil: -Jayla Elkins, 3 -Shayla Elkins, 5 -Kayla Pugh, 6 -Layla Pugh, 7 -Markaydon Pugh, 10 -Sariahh Snow, 11 -Khedarrion Snow, 6 -Braylon Snow, 5 The hearts of the entire community are broken, and we continue to pray for all involved—the families forever changed by this violence, the classmates who missed their friends at school today, and the first responders, law enforcement, and local leaders who have been handling this terrible tragedy since Sunday morning.
