This is so insane Wells Fargo has a real US patent titled “Smart Dust Usage” It’s a system for using tiny airborne microelectromechanical systems, commonly called “smart dust,” for biometric authentication during financial transactions Patent number US11354666B1, granted June 7, 2022 I looked into this and it’s crazy The patent mentions sensors that will - Collect biometric data like heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, motion, voice, images and more - Be released into the air near the user, like at a payment terminal - Compare that data to a user profile to verify identity before approving a payment Keep in mind this is conceptual, but this shows they are working on it The patent is for future technology. The patent itself is only about biometric authentication for payments, not programmable CBDC But you can see how this could be used for CBDC Once your identity is confirmed, the system communicates with the CBDC network. The transaction only clears if it complies with programmable rules attached to the money, Because the dust collects continuous biometric data during the transaction, the system could theoretically: - Detect “suspicious” behavior (elevated heart rate = possible coercion/fraud). - Link your purchase history, health data, political donations, church giving, books bought, etc., to your CBDC wallet. - Automatically freeze or reverse transactions that violate programmed rules. Better late than never! Samsung now supports NFC Access Cards in Samsung Wallet. So, your office and apartment NFC access cards can now be stored and used on your Galaxy phone. You can also use the card information stored on your phone as a base for other supported Samsung phones to copy and scan. Unlike payment cards, there’s no authentication required before using the card. Hence, it’s both a convenience and a security risk. Aadhaar card users should update this setting right now to avoid losing money (1) Download the mAadhaar app from Google Play Store. (2) Tap on the "Register My Aadhaar" card button located at the top of the app. (3) Now, create a 4-digit password for the app. (4) You will now be asked to enter Aadhaar number and security captcha. CARD SKIMMING Meet this device. It is a card skimmer and writer. Capable of reading your card numbers by radio as well reading them by swipe. It uses capable of reading 9 type of cards. Once the magstripe is swiped past the reading head, the embedded data is decoded by the reader to authorise the transaction. Personally I don’t like buying with ATMS or VISAs or Master Cards because of things like this. How sure am I the employee isn’t having this device beside their payment system and can clone and rewrite my card. For this demo, we will use VISA. Carry enough cash if you don’t want to fall victim. User actions are cryptographically signed by your private key before being submitted on-chain. The financial data is encrypted with that key and doesn’t leave your mobile device. Second, Cycles Pay uses a shielded pool to hide account balances on-chain. They are tracked as encrypted commitments and no one can see the underlying amounts or participants. A woman and her husband went to the store to get an Apple gift card for $100. After they got it, they had tried to use it for their iPhone. The opened the package and got the card out, the last few digits on the back of the card are missing and she couldn’t use it. She goes back to the store and speaks to customer service about a refund. Customer service claims they can’t do anything about it because there are no refunds on gift cards and they need to call the company the card is for. She then pulls a few of the same cards off of the display and opens them in front of customer service and proves to them that they all have the same issue. This does look like the card was manufactured defectively and the customer service rep acknowledged it, but why are they leaving it on the shelf for other people to buy it and be ripped off?
