E-2 Thrust Vector Control testing is underway! This test includes frequency sweeps starting at a maximum gimbal angle of ±7 degrees, using hardware from a previous engine revision. After completing additional testing on the component stand, the actuator will be deployed to the test site for its first gimballed test fire.

History has been made by Stratolaunch, a hypersonic flight test research company headquartered in Mojave, California. The fully autonomous Talon-A2, equipped with landing gear, has successfully exceeded speeds of Mach five and completed its second autonomous landing at Vandenburg Space Force Base. This mission documentary follows the first recovered flight of TA-2, the result of five years of effort and dedication marking a pivotal moment in sustainable hypersonic flight test for our country. Congratulations to the Stratolaunch team and partners on this success! Next steps: fly TA-2 again and again, increasing the cadence of hypersonic flight tests for the United States. What’s hotter than a Texas summer? Our Miranda engine.🔥 We fired our Miranda engine at full power for 226 seconds— that’s almost 4 minutes! This endurance test verifies that the engine can perform beyond the nominal flight duration, meaning this engine is one step closer to being ready for flight. Seven of these Miranda engines will generate the thrust needed to lift our Eclipse rocket off the launch pad and propel it into orbit.

This month, we celebrated our 200th day of hot fire testing on the Mobile Test Stand (MTS)—a huge milestone on our journey to provide orbital and surface delivery services! Christened in March 2019, the MTS includes the avionics and propulsion systems required to perform development testing and performance verification of our main engine, motor valves, and avionics systems. Staff Flight Test Engineer Simon Hedderman takes us inside the Archer telemetry trailer, the data center behind our flight test operations. While the pilot operates the aircraft, our team monitors from the telemetry trailer, gathering holistic aircraft data like engine temperatures, airspeed, and battery levels. Each part of the aircraft is represented, with members from the battery, engine, propellor, flight control systems, guidance navigation & controls, and flight test instrumentation teams gathering data and monitoring real-time performance during flight. This bootstrapped startup just completed the first successful hot-fire test of their cryogenic methalox engine. And they did it from their own test facility called SPARC. Which they built in under 3 months. This engine is called Cryonix. Each of these engines will be capable of producing a thrust of 100kN. And nine of these engines will power their own small lift launch vehicle called Mach Blue. They are planning to do commercial launches within the next 3 years.

E-2’s first 90-second test fire was a success! It performed at 55% power with a low conservative 1.6 mixture ratio as planned. The hardware appears in perfect condition ready for more tests. This is an exceptional result for a first test article (E-2 SN1). The test was also a key milestone for our US Space Force TACFI contract. We’ve wrapped up this test campaign and will be back in January with an updated injector featuring lower LOX passage pressure drop to allow us to increase the LOX mass flow and in turn reach full thrust and high performance O/F mixture ratio of 2.62. We thank our team and partners for making this possible - especially Stennis Space Center and their team. We would also like to thank the @SpaceForceDoD for their TACFI contract support.

First fire! 🔥 We have successfully kicked off the hot fire campaign for our first stage at SaxaVord Spaceport UK. We hot-fired a total of four Helix engines, igniting one by one at four second intervals. All engines ran simultaneously for 8 seconds with a total hot-fire duration of 20 seconds. The test ran flawlessly through start-up, steady-state and shutdown. With this hot fire, we were able to demonstrate that we can nominally operate and control our first stage and all its systems, as well as a cluster of Helix engines. RFA and our incredible team are marching steadfastly on towards our first test flight, not only in Scotland but also in Augsburg, Portugal and Sweden. Special thanks to our partners at SaxaVord Spaceport UK for their support at all levels.

Let’s talk about Zipline’s test sites and who we’re hiring for 🧵 They are where elite talent meets 24/7 large scale high volume testing. They’re the engine that helped scale Zipline to the largest autonomous delivery service on earth, 5,000+ autonomous trips around the world and we’re just getting started. Zipline's testing in 2025: 315,000+ test flights 🚀 35,000+ flight hours (480+ straight days of nonstop flying) 🙂‍ 3,000+ flights per day 📈 Our test sites are built to push our system to the max so that we de-risk tomorrow. Each one tackles a different brutal edgecase to make sure the system’s reliability is bulletproof. Our 'engineering test site' in the video I posted is reconfigured every few weeks: new obstacles are added, new flight apps reviewed, new edge cases are tested in any weather condition. Every new software build deploys here first, into live airspace. Our other sites are placed around the U.S. and are focused on testing in severe conditions that ground most if not all other forms of transport. They operate in scorching heat of up to 125 degrees, high-altitudes, intense rainstorms, 60+ mph winds, hail, sleet, and extreme cold-weather, down to -20F. Heavy ice and snow accumulation on propulsion and sensors is the norm. We aggressively chase these conditions in test so we dominate when it really matters. We are now developing 5+ new test sites, each one dialed in to push even more extreme weather and edge conditions. What I am especially proud of is that our safety has kept improving even as flight volume, complexity and environmental hostility increases. We’ve been able to test and develop at a scale that’s unprecedented in aviation history because our teams own a 100% fully vertical tech stack, built hand in hand with our flight and application software teams. We are in a few handful countries who have this technology like the USA, France, Russia and maybe the UK. From this perspective, the launch is very significant. But the most significant message that we want to send is that we are prepared for everything. In case we put our minds to it and we are forced to use our strategic deterrence, it can't be stopped. Our team at Honeybee Robotics, a Blue Origin company, recently passed Critical Design Review for our lunar rover flying on a Firefly Aerospace Blue Ghost mission to the Moon’s Gruithuisen Domes in 2028. This marks a major milestone on the path to flight build. Next up: our mobility and navigation test vehicle will continue putting miles on the lunar analog facility floor as we prepare for flight.
