Path to the F-16s. Since the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has been asking its partners to close the skies or provide aircraft. We knew it was achievable, that the world has the power to make it happen. We combined political, diplomatic, and military efforts for this purpose. Gradually, step by step, we managed to achieve the result. F-16s are already in Ukrainian skies, and there will be more.

That is why effective air defense, electronic warfare, and combat aircraft are critical to strengthening our country's defense, protecting our people, and frontline positions, as well as driving the occupiers out of Ukraine. Today, the Commander of the Air Forces reported on the operations of our fire teams, the downing of "Shahed" drones, and countering Russian missiles. We can now say that our air defense has been strengthened. The German Patriot system has arrived in Ukraine, and I extend my gratitude to Germany and the United States for this step. We will be able to do more in the skies. While much work remains ahead and this is far from guaranteed protection, nonetheless, it means more power for Ukraine.

There have been meetings at various levels, and one of our top priorities is securing long-range capabilities for our Defense Forces. This is crucial to preventing the terror that our Kharkiv and other cities across Ukraine are forced to endure. Clearing Ukrainian skies of Russian guided bombs is a powerful step toward forcing Russia to seek an end to the war and a just peace. Our representatives have provided all the necessary information and details to our partners. I am calling on the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany – we need the means to fully and effectively protect Ukraine and its people. We need permissions for long-range capabilities, as well as your long-range shells and missiles. Making these vital decisions cannot be delayed – these are the actions that can have the most significant impact on the course of events. We are also discussing air defense with our partners – systems that are especially needed now, before the start of the school year, to provide more safety for Ukrainian children in schools, for our cities, and our energy infrastructure. We have agreements with partners on air defense systems and missiles for these systems. It's crucial to implement everything as quickly as possible. We are working even more actively these days to secure such news – additional air defense systems. I thank everyone around the world who is helping. We can already see that the inaugural Peace Summit will be truly global. Leaders from all continents will attend. Many nations that value normal and peaceful coexistence will be present. I am grateful to all the states, leaders, and peace ambassadors who are assisting us in preparing for the summit. We will use the remaining weeks before the event to work with dozens of other leaders and countries that we hope to see at the summit. Despite the brutality of Russian pressure and the heinousness of Russian terror, the world must demonstrate that the combined strength of everyone who values life is sufficient to protect it. Such an outcome is critical for every nation because if this rule works in Ukraine, it will work everywhere.

Today, I addressed Sweden’s annual national conference "Society and Defense," one of Northern Europe’s most important security and defense events. We can see that Russia’s aggressive ambitions can be thwarted if there is sufficient strength to do so. And we can only provide such strength collectively, in solidarity, by working together to strengthen each other. Ukraine has already begun joint defense cooperation with Türkiye, Romania, Poland, and the UK. We have similar agreements with Czechia, the United States, and Germany. And, of course, our suggestion for partners is to cooperate, develop, and grow stronger together. Ukraine is and will be one of Europe’s most significant security donors. We aim for the best weapons and technology in the world for our own and our partners' security. Joint production with Sweden is a priority for us. And I am certain that the day will come when we will see the opening of the first Ukrainian-Swedish joint production in Ukraine.
