Despite clear instructions from the Election Commission of India and the CEO, West Bengal, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) across the state are acting under political pressure from the Trinamool Congress and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. These visuals from the Kalna SDO’s office are a stark reminder of how constitutional processes are being deliberately obstructed. This is not an isolated incident. Similar instances have been reported from Jhargram, KNSD, and Barasat. In Bolpur and Nadia Uttar, TMC cadres are openly attempting to block the submission of forms with the help of Bengal police. In Kanthi and Purulia also, EROs have outright refused to accept them. What we are witnessing is the systematic breakdown of the democratic process in a critical border state. My goal in this budget process has always been to make sure we’re funding core, basic services in a balanced and disciplined manner. We know there is an inherent tension between asking people to pay rates, fees and taxes— and the issue of affordability. We want to make sure our city can provide the quality-of-life services that our residents deserve, but we also want to make sure we’re putting affordability first in our community. While I worry a lot about affordability, I also worry about the ability of our city to deliver quality services without more revenue. I strongly believe that if we're not making the kinds of investments we need to make in our people and our services, we will be managing decay in Austin in a very short period of time. This budget will not meet everyone’s concept of perfection. Truthfully, there are parts of the budget that I don’t like. That goes with living in a big, diverse city—different people will have different priorities, and we need to make room for all of us. Now, it is time for us to trust our voters. Voters have an opportunity in November to make a very important decision. From my perspective, the best part of this budget is that we fully fund our homeless strategy office. That was my greatest emphasis, and we've achieved it. It will make a world of difference in getting homeless people off the street in a very short period of time. I'm also very pleased with what we’ve added to funding for public safety, EMS, and wildfire prevention. A positive vote in the November tax rate election will allow us to pay for these needed services. And we make a significant investment in our parks. I look forward to a result that will be the best benefit of our community.

PRESIDENT TINUBU SIGNS AMENDED ELECTORAL ACT, COMMITS TO STRENGTHENING DEMOCRACY President Tinubu on Wednesday signed the amendments to the 2022 Electoral Act into law, saying he had followed the debate on the document at the National Assembly closely. He commended its leadership for managing the process very well, "to the extent there has been no confusion, no disenfranchisement of Nigerians, and that we are all going to see democracy flourish.” According to the President, “the essence of democracy is to have very solid brainstorming discussions committed to national development, nation-building, and the stability of the nation. “It is time that we have confidence in our system. No matter how good the system is, it's managed by the people, promoted by the people, and the people finalise the results.” Speaking on the ‘controversy’ preceding its passage, President Tinubu affirmed that humans still have a significant role to play in finalising results, as computers can’t do everything, given that many aspects of the voting process are still largely manual. “And when you look at the crux of various arguments, maybe Nigerians should question our broadband capability. How technically sound are we today? How technically sound will we be tomorrow in answering the call, whether in real time or not? “And as long as you appear personally as a manual voter in any polling booth, a ballot paper is given to you manually. You decide in a corner and fingerprint the person you choose. You cast your vote without hindrance or interference. “Ballots are subsequently counted manually. It's just the arithmetic accuracy that is entered into it from easy thinking. It is still manual, essentially. “The transmission of that manual result is what we're looking at. And we need to avoid glitches, interference, and unnecessary hacking in this age of computer inquisitiveness. Nigeria will be there,” he said. In his remarks, Senate President Godswill Akpabio described today (Wednesday) as a truly significant day, with the two major religions commencing their fasting seasons. He said the two chambers worked tirelessly on it for two years “to make sure that we met the right time, so that INEC can do the necessary procurements and bring out the right timetable for next year's election. “We have also ensured that we provided a lot of clauses in the amendment that will enable you to conduct free and fair elections in Nigeria that will be acceptable to the international community and all Nigerians, that will meet the yearnings and aspirations of all Nigerians as democrats. He acknowledged that, though some members disagreed with the decision on the Bill, it was the beauty of democracy. “At the end, we all came together, and this is the final product. As soon as you sign this, you will have made history as the first president to introduce electronic transmission of results from the polling units to the entire world. “We have the IReV now, which is a portal for viewing. It allows you to see what is happening across all polling units. Even if you don't have a network, shortly after that, if you take it to a networked location, it will sync, and people will still have the opportunity to view. “So, we have made all the necessary inclusions to ensure that Nigerians are going to be happy, the international community will be happy, and it will make the elections also easy for INEC to do,” the Senate President said.

Phase one of the Electronic Travel Authorisation system is currently being rolled out for G20 delegates. Over 200 applications have already been seamlessly processed by this new system, which uses machine learning to verify the authenticity of documents and facial recognition to secure the immigration process. Following the stabilisation phase around the G20, Electronic Travel Authorisation will be opened for tourist visas and to other visa categories. This will ultimately lead to the automation of entry-and-exit processes at our borders, including at land borders. This will eliminate the space for the abuse of paper-based and manual processes through biometric verification and digital transformation. Another area of work is to detect, apprehend and deport illegal migrants in the country. Dear Senator Henry Seriake Dickson Henry Seriake Dickson While I take my time to properly address your allusion of me not playing by the rules which I consider very disingenuous seeing how I followed the process and even when you had insisted there would be no primaries for senate I let things go and asked my teeming supporters to focus on the bigger picture, I toured the FCT pacifying my supporters and party people who rightfully felt disrespected as they were all waiting at their respective headquarters for primaries that never happened. (I played field politics, I never waited for anyone to give me ticket), I would like you as the National leader to watch this video again! This part of the interview was so painfully appalling to watch. It looked as if you were insecure and in competition with your Presidential Candidate. Your first one on one interview after primaries and instead of selling your candidates and giving confidence to people on how set the road to winning the 2027 election was, you made it about yourself. With all due respect sir, it looks as if you consider the NDC a Special Purpose Vehicle whose aim has been achieved just by being registered instead of a Political Party whose aim is to win the 2027 General election decisively!!!! The registration of NDC should be a means to an end and not an end in itself. As a leader of a Political party, your number one job in that interview was to pacify aspirants many of whom are rightfully aggrieved and secondly to call on supporters to bear with the party and support it but you ended up antagonising the very people you would need to win election. The so-called 'Mega' DSC was a carefully engineered policy sketch for a 'Mega' scam, a dark operation by CM Chandrababu and his son Nara Lokesh as Minister-in-charge, grievously damaging the lives of meritorious aspirants. Lakhs of aspirants are in anguish today, shedding tears because of the manipulation and deception by the N Chandrababu Naidu Government. Andhra Pradesh never witnessed such a disastrous recruitment process before. For the recruitment process for 16,000 DSC posts, every safeguard that protected transparency was dismantled, every institutional check was weakened, through a carefully laid out a scheme of fraud for purposes of converting the DSC recruitment into a money-spinning scam. Never before in the history of Andhra Pradesh has a recruitment process been marred by irregularities at such scale. DSC represents hopes and aspirations of lakhs of unemployed youth. Malpractices and corruption in the DSC recruitment process executed by the department, whose Minister-in-charge is Nara Lokesh, are extremely condemnable and the situation warrants a CBI inquiry. The corruption ridden DSC recruitment process is a multi layered scam and the following are the key aspects of it. 1. Chandrababu's government dismantled long-standing institutional safeguards. The entire conspiracy began with preparation of question papers (handled by SCERT) and the conduct of the examination (handled by the DSC Convenor). These responsibilities were traditionally separated to preserve confidentiality. This process was completely compromised when the separation of responsibilities was done away with. Chandrababu government sidelined the DSC Convenor and entrusted both crucial responsibilities to the Director of SCERT, thereby undermining the transparency of DSC examination and deliberately paving the way for irregularities. This arrangement created a convenient mechanism as the first step for the Mega Scam. 2. Making matters worse, the highly confidential tasks of question paper preparation and its upload were entrusted to outsourcing employees, creating a system vulnerable to abuse while conveniently providing potential scapegoats if design were to get exposed. The case of an outsourcing employee securing top rank in DSC in the very examination process he was associated with is a classic example of the consequences of the irregularity. This is direct proof of the paper leak scam. The sequence of events that follow generate further suspicion about the fragility of the system enabling paper leak and other irregularities. Why was that individual not provided the job despite him securing first rank? Why were the individual's ID and data removed from the merit list subsequently? Why wasn't he invited for the certificate verification? Are these not the reasons cited by that individual when he approached the Court? An outsourcing employee working in SCERT and intimately involved in question paper preparation, securing 1st rank, speaks volumes about the paper leak. For purposes of ascertaining the depth of the paper leak issue an inquiry by CBI is necessary. The total lack of transparency with respect to declaration of results is also absolutely worrisome, with merit lists and merit-cum-roster lists not being placed on the notice boards of collectors' offices, as was the prevailing practice. Instead, the process was centralized with only online display and messaging. This resulted in candidates facing significant hardship owing uncertainty, with them running from pillar to post with nobody to redresses their grievances, not at the district collector level and not at head office level.The cruelest aspect of the entire DSC examination is that, several candidates who received call letters on 1:1 basis and whose certificates were successfully verified, did not find their name in final selection list. Strict adherence to Rule 20 of Scheme of Selection Rules 2025 necessitated preparation of merit-cum-roster list after taking into consideration, marks, ranks, cutoff and all forms of reservations in place, be it vertical or horizontal, be it under meritorious sportspersons quota, be it under persons with benchmark disabilities quota, and so forth. Under the rule position, successful verification of certificates after this step must only result in the candidate's name being placed in final selection list, however, such has not been the fate of several call letter recipients. The most revealing aspect of the entire scandal is the manner in which the sports quota was dealt with. The shameless manner in which, the policies were altered to enable recklessness in the recruitment process is indeed very distressing. Doing away with the existing policy mandating qualification in examination as provided in G.O. No. 74 dated 9th August, 2012, through a new sports policy introduced vide G.O. no. 8 dated 10th December, 2024 and bringing it into implementation through G.O. No. 4 and G.O. No. 47, Chandrababu and his son had already prepared what can only be described as a "policy blueprint for a scam." For the first time in history, sports quota candidates were exempted from appearing for the DSC examination, creating a backdoor entry through which they were brought into the system. Once the recruitment process was complete, the policy was reverted to what it was earlier, through G.O. No. 23, G.O. No. 25 and G.O. No. 56, thereby superseding G.O. No. 4 and G.O. No. 47, citing difficulties that have arisen and several representations and grievances received from sportspersons. So, once the purpose was served and the recruitment was completed without sportspersons having to appear in the written examination, the backdoor that enabled the system being compromised was shut and the Government also cold-heartedly admitted that the policy change caused difficulties and resulted in several grievances. Let’s get one thing straight before they gaslight you into swallowing this. This is NOT just about “age verification” so kids can’t scroll TikTok. The under-16s social media ban, and the under-18s VPN ban, is digital verification for everyone; because the only way to enforce it is to make every single person prove their age, prove their identity, and “check in” with the State before accessing the modern internet. And yes… you already know where it leads. OneLogin. A centralised identity system designed to collect your credentials and your biometrics (face, iris, fingerprint) and bind them to a single government account. This ban is not the end goal. It is one verification type. One tiny draconian token. One single piece of the Digital ID puzzle. And the equation remains the same: OneLogin + GOV Wallet = Digital ID. Age verification will become one token on that wallet, but first, before the wallet is fully normalised, before it’s “rolled out” to every citizen through exclusion and coercion, they’ll do what they always do: They’ll introduce the gate first. To access a VPN, a social media site, or even an AI tool, you will be forced to “prove” you are over 16 or 18 — and the proof won’t be a private check, or a local device setting, or a parental control. It will be a government check. A government login. A government permission slip. You will have to “check in” with GOV OneLogin to access the internet like a normal person — and soon enough a token for this will be issued into the GOV Wallet, just like the proposed BritCard token that has now allegedly been “scrapped.” This is the same system, the same architecture, the same rollout pattern... just with a different sticker slapped on the front. And once the token exists, it becomes the default. Once it becomes the default, it becomes the requirement. Once it becomes the requirement, it becomes the leash. Because what they’re building is not an age gate. It’s a permission gate. A surveillance gate. A system where your ability to access platforms, services, information, communication — your ability to exist online — becomes conditional on your compliance with a credential check that is logged, tracked, and centrally controlled. They will see what you do. When you do it. What you search. What you access. What you post. And people will still be saying, with a straight face: “Well, it’s a good thing under-16s are being banned from social media… they’ll be safer.” That’s the bait. Then you hear Starmer say: “How will parents police this alone?” And notice what he’s really saying. He is not empowering parents. He is positioning the government next to parents, granting the State the same “authority” to parent your child, to decide what is healthy, what is harmful, what is permitted, what is “wellbeing,” and what must be restricted. The same government that has lied to you for years about safety. The same government that signs away your rights in the name of protection. The same government that cannot define a woman, cannot secure a border, cannot arrest a p3dophile (rather employs and promotes them), cannot run a hospital — but somehow wants you to believe it can be trusted to police your child’s mind. And if you think this is going through “proper process,” think again. A month ago they announced a consultation on the under-16s ban. That consultation is a red herring. Because Starmer’s little phrase “Fast Track” is just PR language for something much uglier: Henry VIII powers. Powers that allow ministers to change legislation without parliamentary scrutiny, without debate, without any democratic friction. And that means the actual rules — the ones that govern your data, your access, your verification, your wallet, your permissions — will not be written on the floor of the House. They will be written by an unelected civil servant in a closed room, and rubber-stamped by a Secretary of State. The consultation is not democracy. It is the hologram of democracy. Designed to make you feel heard while the law is already coded, the architecture already built, and the enforcement mechanism already chosen. And it gets worse. Because this ban is being routed through the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill; a bill that will receive Royal Assent before the consultation even ends. So what exactly are you “consulting” on? A decision that’s already been made. A system that’s already being implemented. A lock that’s already being installed on your front door while they ask you what colour you’d like the handle to be. Then there’s the Unique Identifier for ALL children. They will sell it as “tracking attendance.” But it isn’t an attendance system. It is a digital tether. A permanent state identifier for your child, designed to follow them across systems, databases, services, education, healthcare, “wellbeing,” behavioural monitoring, and digital permissions. And once you combine a Unique Identifier with digital tokens, with “digital wellbeing” regulation, with AI-driven scoring, you have built something monstrous: A system where a child’s “Wellbeing Score” can drop — determined by government-approved metrics, possibly processed by government AI — and the State can remotely revoke their digital tokens. Effectively deleting their social existence until they comply. No access. No platform. No digital participation. No “privileges.” Just compliance. And here’s the part people are missing: They are granting themselves the power to amend the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill without proper parliamentary scrutiny and without waiting for the consultation to end. They are giving the Secretary of State delegated powers to regulate “digital wellbeing” which is a euphemism so broad you could drive an authoritarian regime through it. They can amend laws at any time. They can expand definitions at any time. They can widen the net at any time. Meaning the Prime Minister and Secretaries of State become the architects and the judges. The lawmakers and the enforcers. And Henry VIII powers are named after a tyrant for a reason. Because they were designed for a monarch who forced Parliament to pass laws and accept personal proclamations. That is the lineage of the power Starmer is dressing up as “Fast Tracking.” This isn’t safeguarding. It’s centralisation. And it doesn’t stop there. The other legislation being pulled into this system is the Crime and Policing Bill which is progressing as we speak and the Online Safety Act 2023 — both of which contain mechanisms to expand and amend enforcement without passing fresh primary legislation. Meaning they can tighten the screws without the public ever noticing. No new “big scary bill.” No headline. No national debate. Just silent regulatory expansion. A little more coercion. A little more surveillance. A little more permissioning. Let’s get one thing straight before they gaslight you into swallowing this. This is NOT just about “age verification” so kids can’t scroll TikTok. The under-16s social media ban, and the under-18s VPN ban, is digital verification for everyone; because the only way to enforce it is to make every single person prove their age, prove their identity, and “check in” with the State before accessing the modern internet. And yes… you already know where it leads. OneLogin. A centralised identity system designed to collect your credentials and your biometrics (face, iris, fingerprint) and bind them to a single government account. This ban is not the end goal. It is one verification type. One tiny draconian token. One single piece of the Digital ID puzzle. And the equation remains the same: OneLogin + GOV Wallet = Digital ID. Age verification will become one token on that wallet, but first, before the wallet is fully normalised, before it’s “rolled out” to every citizen through exclusion and coercion, they’ll do what they always do: They’ll introduce the gate first. To access a VPN, a social media site, or even an AI tool, you will be forced to “prove” you are over 16 or 18 — and the proof won’t be a private check, or a local device setting, or a parental control. It will be a government check. A government login. A government permission slip. You will have to “check in” with GOV OneLogin to access the internet like a normal person — and soon enough a token for this will be issued into the GOV Wallet, just like the proposed BritCard token that has now allegedly been “scrapped.” This is the same system, the same architecture, the same rollout pattern... just with a different sticker slapped on the front. And once the token exists, it becomes the default. Once it becomes the default, it becomes the requirement. Once it becomes the requirement, it becomes the leash. Because what they’re building is not an age gate. It’s a permission gate. A surveillance gate. A system where your ability to access platforms, services, information, communication — your ability to exist online — becomes conditional on your compliance with a credential check that is logged, tracked, and centrally controlled. They will see what you do. When you do it. What you search. What you access. What you post. Then you hear Starmer say: “How will parents police this alone?” And notice what he’s really saying. He is not empowering parents. Because Starmer’s little phrase “Fast Track” is just PR language for something much uglier: Henry VIII powers. And that means the actual rules — the ones that govern your data, your access, your verification, your wallet, your permissions — will not be written on the floor of the House. They will be written by an unelected civil servant in a closed room, and rubber-stamped by a Secretary of State. The consultation is not democracy. It is the hologram of democracy. Designed to make you feel heard while the law is already coded, the architecture already built, and the enforcement mechanism already chosen. And it gets worse. A decision that’s already been made. A system that’s already being implemented. A lock that’s already being installed on your front door while they ask you what colour you’d like the handle to be. Then there’s the Unique Identifier for ALL children. They will sell it as “tracking attendance.” But it isn’t an attendance system. It is a digital tether. A permanent state identifier for your child, designed to follow them across systems, databases, services, education, healthcare, “wellbeing,” behavioural monitoring, and digital permissions. And once you combine a Unique Identifier with digital tokens, with “digital wellbeing” regulation, with AI-driven scoring, you have built something monstrous: A system where a child’s “Wellbeing Score” can drop — determined by government-approved metrics, possibly processed by government AI — and the State can remotely revoke their digital tokens. Effectively deleting their social existence until they comply. No access. No platform. No digital participation. No “privileges.” Just compliance. And here’s the part people are missing: They are granting themselves the power to amend the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill without proper parliamentary scrutiny and without waiting for the consultation to end. They are giving the Secretary of State delegated powers to regulate “digital wellbeing” which is a euphemism so broad you could drive an authoritarian regime through it. They can amend laws at any time. They can expand definitions at any time. They can widen the net at any time. Meaning the Prime Minister and Secretaries of State become the architects and the judges. The lawmakers and the enforcers. And Henry VIII powers are named after a tyrant for a reason. Because they were designed for a monarch who forced Parliament to pass laws and accept personal proclamations.
