Holiday weekend means it's time to gear up and play. Part two of my little video experiment, should I keep doing these and possibly expand the action?

London’s got something for everyone this weekend. Wander through a Market, visit a local mosque, experiment with compost-powered computers or see Blackfriars transformed after dark. And the best bit? It’s all FREE.

Anthony Fantano reveals that his announcement last week about Drake's "ICEMAN" dropping within the next 36 hours was actually a social experiment: "This past week, merely out of a desire to engage in a little social experiment, I decided to come online and just say that I knew 'ICEMAN' was gonna drop this past weekend..."

Over the weekend, The NY Times opinion section listed 16 reasons they’re proud to be an American and why our national experiment continues. They included immigrants, refugees, fugitive slaves, Pepfar, and refugees. Listen to my take here:

a fun particle physics weekend experiment with Google AI Studio and p5.js inspired by opening credits of pluribus. it's a distortion grid that reacts to your mouse. play with controls of damping, particles and distortion to create snappy geometrical effects. you can mix and match palettes to tint the distortion field. try it below.

I appreciate Congressman Josh Brecheen hosting a Special Order to commemorate the National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise, and Thanksgiving this weekend. It is through prayer that we have sustained this grand experiment in self-governance for 250 years, and as we approach our nation’s big anniversary, it is important that all of us continue to seek God’s protection and blessing over America.

Something is shifting. This weekend, the conversation around tokenized stocks became impossible to ignore. Markets were closed, but the story kept moving. Tomorrow, the screens turn back on and $AMC enters a new week with more eyes on this experiment than ever before. Tokenized stocks are finding their culture. Memes are finding new meaning. Two worlds are beginning to collide. And somewhere in that collision sits A $MEME Coin. The lights are coming on. Enjoy the show. 🍿

Anthropic pointed a model at 40 years of ribosome papers and it found the same experiment had been run 1,400 times without anyone noticing. Nobody asked it for a discovery. It was asked one question: which of these results has never been reproduced by a different lab. > INGEST - 40 years of papers, methods sections only, no abstracts, no citations > STRIP - reduces each method to the actual procedure, discarding how it was written up > MATCH - clusters procedures that are the same experiment under different names > ORPHAN - flags every cluster where one lab is the only source > RANK - sorts orphans by how much later work was built on top of them 1,400 duplicates were harmless. Everyone re-runs the standard assays, and that is how science is supposed to work. The output that mattered was the opposite pile. 61 procedures with exactly one source, each cited hundreds of times. Four of those 61 sit underneath entire subfields, and no second lab has ever run the experiment. Citations are not replication. A paper cited 900 times has been read 900 times, which is not the same as being checked once. The literature is searchable by words and by authors. Almost nobody has indexed it by procedure, which is the only unit that can actually be repeated. A reproducibility audit is a grant, a committee and two years. This was a weekend of compute against text that was already public. How it's wired is in the article below.

Introducing SuperDesign.Dev The first open-source Design Agent that lives inside Cursor, Windsurf, or any IDE: 👉 Instantly spin up 10 different design in parallel 👉 Explore, fork, and iterate 10x faster 👉 Create new or iterate on your existing UI — all fully local JackJack and I shipped this as a quick weekend experiment to validate a hunch: design is the killer use case for parallel agents. Currently at V0.005 — a simple customization of the Claude Code SDK + static HTML generation. (We might be the first product powered by the Anthropic Claude Code SDK!) More coming soon: web app, mobile app, SVG generation, and more. GitHub: Try it out: ----- Upvote on Hacker News ❤️:

9 prompt templates. 34 hours saved per week! Not a claim from a weekend experiment. A number pulled from thirty days of logged hours running manual processes side-by-side with automated ones and measuring the gap. The eight hours of work still happen. Nothing is being skipped. Competitive scans. Email triage. Meeting prep. Weekly status reports. Research. Content distribution. All of it runs in the background while you spend forty-seven minutes reviewing decisions instead of eight hours executing them. Nine templates. Verbatim. Ready to copy. Claude Cowork slash commands that trigger with one word and walk away. April logs versus May logs. The delta was thirty-four hours. Follow NeilXbt for more Claude Cowork builds backed by logged evidence.

Just spent 2 days hacking on a new app idea: SuperNote → an AI-powered note-taking app that lets you: ✅ Summarize PDFs, Audio, YouTube videos into notes ✅ Organize notes in custom folders (with moods 🌈) ✅ Instantly generate AI notes from transcripts ✅ Write + edit in a clean, minimal editor Honestly, I wasn’t planning to build this. It started as a quick experiment and snowballed. Sometimes you need to ship an MVP fast and see what happens. For my fellow indie hackers: You don’t need weeks/months You don’t need a huge team You just need one idea and a weekend of focus. 🔥 Built this in 2 days using: 🛠 Flutter 🛠 Supabase 🛠 OpenAI Now, I am thinking of turning it into a full product. If you're building similar AI-first tools. DM me!

🚨 Austin Under Siege: 10-12 Random Shootings in <24 Hours – Teens with Stolen Guns Terrorize City, 4 Injured (1 Critical), Shelter-in-Place Chaos Ensues In a city already reeling from prior violence, Austin just endured what looks like a coordinated weekend rampage: suspects firing at homes, apartments, businesses, and two fire stations. No motive announced. Random victims. Vehicles stolen and swapped like a bad action movie—dark Hyundai Sonata with a smashed window, gold sedans, Kias, Mazdas. Two Hispanic males (15 & 17) are now in custody after a chase. Third suspect still loose—Manor area (Presidential Meadows, etc.) on high alert. APD & Mayor Watson briefed: lock doors, don’t leave cars unlocked, eyes open. This isn’t “random” in a vacuum. It’s a symptom—youth crime exploding, soft policies, stolen guns circulating. Austin’s “progressive” experiment meets street-level reality. Prayers for the injured. Gratitude to APD/SWAT for the rapid response. But questions remain: How did teens access this firepower? Why the fire stations? What’s the full network? Stay vigilant, Texas. Secure your families. Report tips—reward is possible. Law enforcement is hunting. Watch the official briefing below 👇 Manor PD LIVE update on the manhunt: #AustinShootingSpree #AustinUnderSiege #TexasManhunt #RandomViolence #APDStrong #SecureTheCities #YouthCrimeCrisis #ManorAlert

At popular request, I’m trying the vitrification process on all kinds of materials. As you can see, we have wood (okay, that pencil is covered with painting, so technically it’s not wood), metal, limestone, and organic material — the peach 🍑. Oh, and granite. The egg counts as limestone. 😂 I thought they would all be ready by this morning, but apparently none of these is artificial stone, so the glass deposition is happening much more slowly. But it has started! So far, the two winners are the egg and the peach — and, of course, I have absolutely no idea why. For example, why is the egg performing better than a piece of limestone when both of them are limestone? 🤔 Originally, I was planning to take them out of the solution today, but apparently they’re staying there for the weekend. Let’s see where this goes. Oh, and one more thing: right now I’m suffering through this experiment all by myself, but soon I’m going to open it up to a few testers. Last time, I learned an incredible amount about the fake granite simply from having 100 other people try it. All sorts of weird and unexpected things came up. So stay tuned!
