BREAKING: The Oklahoma State Education Superintendent Ryan Walters has announced that every teacher and classroom will be required to have a Bible and that he would be issuing a memo to every school district in Oklahoma about the decision. Walters referenced a state statute concerning historical documents, arguing that the Bible holds significance both in historical events and as a foundational element of America. If this is the case, then isn't there also a case to be made to have almost every religious text in classrooms?

NEW: Texas Governor Greg Abbott says protesters at University of Texas "belong in jail" adding that "antisemitism will not be tolerated in Texas." State troopers and police officers made over 20 arrests on campus, many charged with trespassing. Students claim that the protests were peaceful until the police arrived. "I didn’t think there would be this much police intervention from what’s supposed to be a peaceful protest. Not very peaceful when there’s a bunch of aggressors around, especially on horses," said one student. Abbott also called for all "antisemitic" students to be expelled from the school. "Students joining in hate-filled, antisemitic protests at any public college or university in Texas should be expelled." Interview: Monica Madden

Here is the actual truth: You CAN’T UNDERSTAND Western civilization without the Bible. That’s what Texas did. It's not indoctrination. It's requiring students to learn about stories and passages that are even more foundational to our society than Charles Dickens and Shakespeare. In fact, so much about classic literature and our Founding Documents is lost to us without an understanding of the Bible. There’s no forced prayer or mandatory religious exercises. Texas isn't trying to force a faith. They want to teach children about the bedrock upon which the entire West was built. The media is in a full panic because they know exactly what happens when the American people rediscover this foundation and rediscover their story: all of their progressive work is gone. They want a generation of untethered, anxious strangers who don't know the book that built the house they live in.

Lets quote some bible for you all: Timothy 2:12 “I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.” They are going to have to fire all the female teachers I guess. Article 11 of the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli, declares that “the government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,” Remember what you are voting for in November.

I'm so sorry that your spiritual leadership abdicated their responsibility to speak God's truth to hurting people, Michelle. A friend texted me this morning, demoralized that the pastor of his church of 12 years did not mention Charlie's assassination at all either. I was grateful to be in a church this morning where our pastor was not so reticent to teach that the Bible is relevant to the pain and horror the nation is experiencing at Charlie's death. At Iryna Zarutska's death. I was grateful that my children and some guests with us were able to hear that. The Bible is not a dead text. It is living and sharper than any two-edged sword. We can't be afraid to wield it in the darkest moments. Especially in the darkest moments.
